About the Role

We are seeking a detail-oriented Part-Time Treasurer to oversee the financial management of our nonprofit, which provides one-to-one supervised activities for children with disabilities across 7 affiliate chapters. This is a paid independent contractor position reporting to the Board of Directors and working closely with organizational leadership.

KEEN USA empowers youth with disabilities to participate in free noncompetitive, one-to-one programs led by trained volunteers. We are currently in growth mode expanding programming across the country and our Treasury function is essential to sustaining our national growth and financial integrity.

Key Responsibilities

Financial Records & Reporting

  • Maintain accurate and complete financial records in coordination with the bookkeeper.
  • Oversee bank accounts, expenditure tracking, and monthly reconciliations.
  • Monitor cash flow and ensure ongoing financial stability across all affiliate chapters.

Budgeting & Forecasting

  • Lead the annual budgeting process and provide financial forecasts to leadership.
  • Track restricted and grant-funded income and prepare related financial reports.

Compliance & Controls

  • Ensure compliance with nonprofit financial regulations, including coordination of Form 990 and required state filings.
  • Maintain appropriate internal controls and financial policies.
  • Support audits or financial reviews as needed.

Qualifications

Required

  • 3+ years of experience in accounting, finance, or nonprofit bookkeeping.
  • Familiarity with nonprofit financial reporting and compliance requirements, including Form 990.
  • Proficiency in QuickBooks or comparable accounting software.
  • Experience managing or consolidating financials across multiple entities or chapters preferred.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to communicate financial information clearly to non-financial stakeholders.

Preferred

  • CPA or equivalent professional designation.
  • Prior experience serving as Treasurer or in a financial oversight role for a nonprofit board.

Compensation & Time Commitment

  • Paid independent contractor engagement.
  • Contractor sets own work schedule except for required board meetings or deadlines. Estimated 15–20 hours per month under normal operations.
  • Additional hours required during budgeting cycles, tax filing periods, and any audit activity.
  • Compensation commensurate with experience. Please include your hourly or monthly rate when applying.
