BASTA Universal! is dedicated to fighting housing inequality by defending the rights of tenants across Greater Los Angeles through representation and legal advice.

As one of the largest free housing legal services providers in Los Angeles County, BASTA Universal! is proud to be a core member of the Stay Housed LA (SHLA) program and the Right to Counsel (RTC) coalition, which recently helped establish a legal right to counsel for tenants facing eviction in the City of Los Angeles. We represent tenants in nine courthouses and operate four full-service offices across Los Angeles County.

We believe housing is a human right and is about zealous advocacy, working hard to create a difference in people’s lives, and changing the system. We believe that people should not have to live on the verge of displacement and must defend their right to be part of this city constantly.

BASTA Universal! is a great place to ignite and re-ignite your legal passions. If you are a recently licensed attorney or are looking for courtroom experience, come meet with us! If you have been practicing law for a few years and want a change of scenery, meet with us!
