Position TITLE: tribal court administrator (TCA)
Supervisor: chief executive officer
OPEN: until filled
SALARY: $79,545.00 Annuals 1 FTE
REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES INCLUDE: The Tribal Court Administrator (TCA) will serve as the lead administrator for the Court and will have the day-to-day responsibility for the court operations. The TCA will work closely with the Tribal Court staff and the Chief of Police to ensure that all aspects of court administration are operational. Provide guidance, direction, and supervision to Tribal Court staff. Skill in effective team building, motivation, mediation, negotiation, and conflict resolution. Draft, update, and research court codes, court ordinances, court rules, and court forms, and oversee court reports to ensure that court documents are processed and filed effectively. Develop, prepare, and administer contracts and agreements.
Minimum Qualifications:
1. Degree (Required): Bachelor’s degree in public administration, Business Administration, Criminal Justice, Court Administration, American Indian Studies, or a related field.
2. Associate’s degree in legal studies, Paralegal, or related fields, with 3+ years in tribal court administrative work.
3. Court Experience (Preferred): Two to five years of relevant experience in court administration, legal assistance, paralegal roles, tribal government, or judicial systems (e.g., federal/state courts).
4. Supervisory Experience (Preferred): At least 2 years of supervisory experience managing
5. administrative or legal staff, including training, performance evaluations, and team coordination.
6. The selected candidate must successfully complete a pre-employment drug screen test, and a complete background investigation, including relevant criminal history, prior to employment.
