Sales & Truck Dispatcher

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly motivated and results-driven individual to join our team as a Sales and Truck Dispatcher. This hybrid role is perfect for a professional who thrives in a fast-paced environment and possesses a strong blend of sales, customer service, and logistics skills. The primary responsibilities will include acquiring new carrier clients and managing the daily dispatch operations to ensure the efficient and timely delivery of freight.

Salary: 50,000 - 70,000 (Commensurate with experience and performance)

Key Responsibilities:

  • Sales & Business Development:
  • Proactively identify and cold-call new trucking companies and owner-operators to offer our dispatching services.
  • Build and maintain a strong sales pipeline to meet and exceed monthly and quarterly sales targets.
  • Negotiate rates, terms, and contracts to successfully onboard new carriers.
  • Develop and nurture long-term relationships with clients to ensure retention and satisfaction.
  • Truck Dispatching & Logistics:
  • Source and book profitable freight loads for our carrier clients using load boards and established broker relationships.
  • Plan and optimize routes, considering factors such as traffic, weather, and hours of service (HOS) regulations.
  • Communicate with drivers to provide load details, directions, and updates.
  • Track and monitor the progress of shipments from pickup to delivery, proactively addressing any issues or delays that may arise.
  • Manage all necessary paperwork, including bills of lading, freight invoices, and dispatch documents.
  • Customer Service:
  • Act as the primary point of contact for our carriers and their drivers.
  • Provide exceptional customer service by addressing all inquiries, resolving problems, and ensuring a smooth experience.

Qualifications:

  • Proven experience in a sales and/or dispatching role, preferably within the trucking, logistics, or transportation industry.
  • Strong understanding of the trucking industry, including terminology, regulations (e.g., HOS), and market dynamics.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks in a high-pressure environment.
  • Proficiency with transportation management software (TMS), load boards (e.g., DAT, Truckstop), and CRM systems.
  • Highly organized with meticulous attention to detail.
  • Self-motivated, with a competitive and results-driven mindset.
  • Bachelors or equivalent required; a degree in logistics, business, or a related field is a plus.
