Do you take pride in your craftsmanship and love turning wrenches into finished builds? At Smith Truck Body, we’re looking for a skilled Truck Equipment Installer who’s ready to put their welding, fabrication, and mechanical skills to the test. You’ll get hands-on experience with a wide variety of builds—from hooklift and roll-off hoists to dump beds, flatbeds, service bodies, cranes, compressors, and custom lighting/electrical setups. No two days are the same, and your work will be out on the road making an impact.

What You’ll Do:

• Install and customize truck equipment on new and used trucks
• Build, weld, and fabricate high-quality setups including hydraulics, cranes, hoists, and more
• Operate heavy equipment and tools that get the job done right
• Keep projects on schedule while delivering professional-level results

What We’re Looking For:

• Prefer 3+ years of hands-on, verifiable mechanic/fabrication experience but will train the right person.
• Proficiency in MIG welding carbon steel (your skills will shine here)
• Must already have, or be ready to earn, Michigan State Heavy Truck Certifications and ASE Upfitter Certifications. We’ll support you in getting certified so you can add valuable credentials to your toolbox and set yourself apart in the industry.
• Your own tools and rolling toolbox
• A valid driver’s license and safe operating habits
• Ability to handle heavy lifting, stand/bend/kneel throughout the day, and keep a clean, efficient workspace
• Someone who can work independently and also thrives as part of a team

Equipment You’ll Use (training provided if needed):

• Forklifts
• Air and electrical hand tools (plasma cutters, grinders, welders, drills, etc.)

Pay: $20.00 - $35.00 per hour
