Truck & Trailer Mechanic

Job Overview
We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Truck & Trailer Mechanic to join our maintenance team. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in automotive and heavy equipment repair, with a strong focus on truck and trailer systems. This role involves diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining a variety of vehicles and equipment to ensure optimal safety and performance. Candidates with dealership experience and a solid background in mechanical diagnostics are highly preferred. The position offers an opportunity to work with diverse machinery, including diesel engines, hydraulic systems, and industrial equipment, in a dynamic environment committed to quality service.

Duties

  • Perform comprehensive inspections and diagnostics on trucks, trailers, and heavy equipment using schematics and diagnostic tools
  • Conduct repairs on diesel engines, transmissions, air brakes, suspension systems, hydraulics, HVAC systems, and electrical components
  • Replace or repair shocks & struts, tires, brakes, and other vehicle parts using hand tools and power tools
  • Fabricate parts or components as needed for repairs or customization projects
  • Operate heavy machinery such as excavators, cranes, forklifts, and other industrial equipment safely and efficiently
  • Maintain detailed service records of all repairs performed
  • Assist in the assembly and disassembly of vehicle components during repairs or upgrades
  • Perform preventive maintenance to extend the lifespan of vehicles and equipment
  • Ensure all work complies with safety standards and manufacturer specifications

Skills

  • Proven experience in dealership automotive repair or heavy equipment maintenance
  • Strong mechanical knowledge of tractor-trailers, farm machinery, industrial equipment, and automotive systems
  • Proficiency in reading schematics and technical manuals for troubleshooting complex issues
  • Skilled in the use of hand tools, power tools, welding equipment, soldering irons, and alignment tools
  • Ability to diagnose electrical problems using automotive diagnostics tools
  • Experience with fabrication techniques for custom repairs or modifications
  • Knowledge of hydraulics, suspension systems, HVAC systems, tire service, and wheel alignment procedures
  • Capable of heavy lifting safely while maintaining attention to detail during repairs
  • Excellent customer service skills to communicate effectively with clients about repairs needed or completed
  • Familiarity with heavy lifting equipment operation such as forklifts or cranes is a plus
  • Strong problem-solving skills combined with the ability to work independently or as part of a team

This position requires a motivated individual who takes pride in their craftsmanship and is committed to maintaining high standards of safety and quality. Prior experience working with diverse vehicle types and industrial machinery will be considered an asset.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $17.00 - $18.00 per hour
