Do you thrive in a hands-on leadership role where planning, problem-solving, and teamwork keep the community moving safely and efficiently? The Department of Public Works is seeking a Truck String – Highway Supervisor to lead critical highway maintenance and infrastructure operations that directly impact public safety and mobility.
In this role, you’ll coordinate and oversee a wide range of highway and roadway operations—from road maintenance, asphalt paving, drainage, and dust abatement to snow removal, storm response, and emergency services. Working through Lead Equipment Operators, you’ll ensure crews, equipment, and materials are deployed efficiently while upholding high standards for quality, safety, and performance.
You’ll serve as both a supervisor and mentor—guiding, training, and motivating maintenance staff, conducting performance evaluations, and supporting hiring and disciplinary processes. Your leadership will help crews perform at their best while ensuring compliance with safety standards, operational procedures, and industry best practices.
Beyond daily operations, you’ll play a key role in planning and analysis—developing schedules, reviewing data, inspecting work, and recommending improvements to policies, procedures, and priorities. You’ll collaborate with County departments, municipalities, contractors, and the public to coordinate the construction, maintenance, and repair of roads, bridges, drainage systems, and rights-of-way.
This position requires a consistent in-person presence and includes after-hours, on-call responsibilities for snow removal, emergency response, and natural disaster recovery. If you’re a decisive leader with strong technical knowledge, a commitment to safety, and a passion for public service, this role offers the opportunity to make a visible, lasting impact on the infrastructure our community relies on every day.
