Truck & Trailer Powertrain Technician

Location: Channahon, IL

Shop Hours: Monday–Friday, 6 a.m.–6 p.m.

Hourly Rate: $31–$37, DOE

If you thrive on turning wrenches with precision and take pride in sending safe, reliable equipment back on the road, this role is for you. At LAUNCH TransTechs, we’re adding a B-Level technician with a strong preventive maintenance mindset to care for heavy-duty trucks and trailers.

How you’ll make an impact

• Own PM service routines—lube, filters, inspections—and ensure cab safety/security and overall vehicle condition meet standards.
• Diagnose basic electrical concerns; replace starters, alternators, and batteries confidently.
• Manage tires end-to-end: tread assessments, proper inflation, rotations, and wheel reconditioning.
• Support powertrain reliability by inspecting/replacing basic engine components and performing transmission, clutch (R&R), and driveline work.
• Refresh steering and chassis components to maintain handling performance.
• Contribute to other shop tasks as assigned to keep the workflow smooth.

What you’ll need

• High school diploma or GED and at least 3 years of mechanic experience.
• Eligibility and commitment to obtain a CDL within 6 months of hire.
• Your own tool set and steel toe boots.
• A valid driver’s license.
