Responsibilities

• Coordinate and dispatch freight shipments by assigning loads to drivers based on delivery priorities and driver availability.
• Utilize transportation management systems (TMS) and GPS tools to monitor vehicle locations, optimize routes, and ensure timely deliveries.
• Communicate effectively with drivers via multi-line phone systems, providing clear instructions and real-time updates on dispatch changes.
• Maintain accurate data entry in systems such as Oracle Transportation Management and SyteLine to track shipments, driver logs, and delivery statuses.
• Manage shipping & receiving schedules, ensuring proper documentation and compliance with safety regulations.
• Collaborate with supply chain teams to plan transportation needs, analyze logistics data, and improve dispatching processes.
• Handle phone call management professionally with excellent phone etiquette while addressing driver inquiries or customer requests promptly.

Requirements

• Proven experience in dispatching within transportation or logistics environments; familiarity with freight management is preferred.
• Strong analysis skills to interpret GPS data, GIS (Geographic Information Systems), and transportation planning tools for route optimization.
• Knowledge of transportation management systems such as Oracle Transportation Management, AS400, or similar platforms.
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to manage multiple calls efficiently while maintaining professionalism.
• Organizational skills to prioritize tasks effectively in a fast-paced environment; proficiency in data entry and typing is essential.
• Familiarity with fleet management practices, shipping & receiving procedures, and 3PL (third-party logistics) operations.
• Technical aptitude with systems like SyteLine and transportation planning tools to support logistics coordination.
