Tunneling Charge Hand

We are seeking a seasoned Tunneling Chargehand to lead our micro tunneling operations. In this role, you will be the "boots on the ground" leader, bridging the gap between site management and the tunneling crew. You will oversee the safe and efficient operation of AVN/MTBM machinery while ensuring the highest standards of pipe installation and site discipline.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Operational Supervision

  • Supervise daily AVN / MTBM operations, ensuring precise machine performance.
  • Monitor jacking frame alignment and control the lubrication (bentonite) systems.
  • Oversee the entire pipe installation process, including rigorous cleaning and gasket placement checks before insertion.
  • Ensure safe and successful machine breakthroughs.
  • Coordinate daily maintenance of the MTBM and troubleshoot slurry separation issues.

2. Crew Management & Safety

  • Allocate manpower across shifts and ensure seamless 24/7 shift handovers.
  • Maintain strict discipline and high productivity levels on-site.
  • Conduct daily Toolbox Talks and coordinate closely with the HSE Officer.
  • Enforce confined space procedures and ensure mandatory gas testing within shafts.
  • Monitor all lifting operations to maintain a zero-incident environment.

3. Technical Troubleshooting & Maintenance

  • Identify cutter head wear and oversee seal replacements.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for mechanics and electricians regarding machine health.
  • Emergency Response: Lead the team during critical situations such as flooding, slurry leakage, or a stuck machine.

4. Reporting

  • Provide daily progress updates to the Site Engineer and Project Manager.

Job Type: Full-time

Education:

  • Diploma (Preferred)

Experience:

  • Tunneling: 8 years (Required)
  • Road 7 Infrastructure: 5 years (Required)

  • English (Required)
