Summary

Provide individualized peer tutoring to students of TRIO Student Support Services.

Essential Functions

  • Provide individualized tutoring to supplement classroom learning and instruction.
  • Facilitate insight into the learning process.
  • Assist students in the comprehension of course content.
  • Participate in professional development training in person and on discussion boards.
  • Provide a student perspective on learning and school success (organization, note taking, time management, etc.).
  • Remit tutee progress reports on a weekly basis.
  • Administration of learning style instruments as needed (VARK, Barsch, etc.).

Minimum Qualifications

  • GPA 3.0 or higher.
  • A or B in proposed courses.
  • Two BGSU faculty/staff references.
  • Must be a currently enrolled undergraduate or graduate student.
  • Applications received without unofficial transcripts will not be reviewed.
  • Familiarization with SSC (within MyBGSU) highly preferred.
