Who we're looking for: As a TV Producer at VML, you will be a creative and strategic thinker with a deep understanding of the end-to-end television production process.
This role demands a strong ability to develop compelling content ideas and narratives, coupled with expert skills in budgeting, scheduling, and managing all aspects of TV production. You will be responsible for bringing creative concepts to life, ensuring projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards, all while strategically aligning content with overall marketing objectives for our diverse client portfolio.
What you'll be doing:
- Lead and manage all aspects of TV commercials, branded content, and other television-related projects from pre-production through post-production, ensuring projects are delivered on time and within budget, managing multiple projects simultaneously.
- Develop and manage detailed production schedules, comprehensive budgets, and robust production plans, utilizing industry-standard software and best practices.
- Secure necessary permits, releases, and insurance for all productions, ensuring strict compliance with all legal and regulatory requirements.
- Manage crew and vendor relationships, including sourcing, vetting, hiring, negotiating rates, and overseeing contracts.
- Collaborate effectively with internal creative teams, account teams, and clients to ensure alignment on creative vision, project goals, and timelines.
- Proactively identify and troubleshoot potential production challenges (e.g., location issues, talent availability, weather delays) and implement creative and effective solutions.
- Manage location scouting and logistics, ensuring a smooth and efficient on-set experience.
- Oversee all post-production activities, including editing, color correction, sound design, and visual effects, ensuring all deliverables meet technical specifications for television broadcast.
- Possess a strong understanding of storytelling and visual aesthetics for television, with a keen eye for detail and a passion for creating compelling content.
- Contribute to creative brainstorms and provide expert production and content expertise during the creative development process, offering insights on feasibility, cost-effectiveness, and potential challenges.
- Oversee all aspects of physical production, including casting, set design, wardrobe, and equipment rentals, ensuring adherence to the creative brief and brand guidelines.
- Develop and manage production budgets, accurately estimating costs and tracking expenses, utilizing tools like Movie Magic Budgeting.
- Negotiate competitive rates with vendors and crew members, leveraging industry knowledge and relationships to secure the best possible value.
- Identify cost-saving opportunities without compromising quality, exploring alternative solutions and streamlining processes.
- Manage petty cash and reconcile expenses accurately.
- Communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders, providing regular updates on project progress, budget status, and potential challenges.
- Foster strong working relationships with clients, vendors, and colleagues, building trust and ensuring a collaborative and positive working environment.
- Demonstrate excellent presentation and communication skills, effectively conveying ideas and information to diverse audiences.
- Act as a liaison between the creative team, account team, and client, ensuring clear communication and alignment throughout the production process.
- Oversee all aspects of audio production, including recording, mixing, and mastering, ensuring high-quality audio for all video projects.
- Collaborate with sound designers and audio engineers, leveraging a deep understanding of audio recording techniques, microphone placement, and sound design principles.
What you'll need:
- Bachelor's degree in Film, Television Production, Communications, Writing, or a related field.
- 5+ years of progressive experience as a TV Production & Content Producer in an agency or production company setting.
- Proven track record of successfully managing all aspects of TV commercial production and branded content creation, including significant experience with audio production and post-production.
- Strong understanding of production workflows, industry best practices, and emerging technologies (e.g., virtual production, remote workflows), with a particular focus on audio technologies and techniques.
- Excellent project management, organizational, and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Exceptional communication, interpersonal, and negotiation skills, with the ability to build rapport and influence stakeholders at all levels.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team, demonstrating initiative and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
- Strong attention to detail and unwavering commitment to delivering high-quality work that meets or exceeds client expectations.
- Proficiency in industry-standard production software (e.g., Movie Magic Budgeting, editing suites).
- Knowledge of various camera formats and post-production workflows.
- Familiarity with music licensing and copyright laws.
- Experience working with voice-over talent and recording studios.
- Ability to create and manage audio budgets, with a strong ear for detail to identify and resolve audio issues.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with composers, sound designers, and audio engineers.
- Experience working with celebrity talent and a strong network of freelance crew members.
