Job Title: UI/UX Engineer — Embedded Display Interface Systems (Confidential Project)
About the Project
We are developing an advanced attachable secondary display platform designed for gaming, productivity, and creative applications.
The system features high-refresh OLED/IPS panels, touch and stylus input, 3D visualization capabilities, and integrated onboard computing (SoC, FPGA, AI/NPU modules).
It can function in passive (peripheral) and active (standalone) modes, offering rich user interactions through embedded firmware and custom software layers.
We are seeking a UI/UX Engineer to lead the design and implementation of the on-device interface system — not just web or app frontends, but the actual interactive UI framework for our OS/firmware environment.
Role Overview
The UI/UX Engineer will design, prototype, and help implement the human–machine interface (HMI) for the embedded device’s onboard OS and companion applications.
You will work closely with firmware engineers, system designers, and graphics developers to deliver an interface that is responsive, visually refined, and functionally aligned with embedded constraints (e.g., real-time performance, touch calibration, limited GPU pipelines).
This role combines strong UX design sense with technical fluency in embedded UI frameworks, input calibration systems, and prototype-to-production workflows.
Key Responsibilities
Design and prototype the core interface of the embedded system — launcher, menus, configuration panels, and interactive dashboards.
Develop and maintain interface prototypes for client reviews and system integration. (Client deliverable: Interface Prototype Launcher)
Collaborate with firmware and embedded engineers to define and optimize UI rendering pipelines (Qt/QML, LVGL, Flutter Embedded, or custom OpenGL/Vulkan pipelines).
Implement touch calibration systems, gesture mapping, and input feedback workflows to ensure accurate user interaction across hardware variants. (Client deliverable: Touch Calibration Module)
Translate complex system behaviors (modes, sensors, AI effects, 3D visualization, etc.) into intuitive, accessible user experiences.
Conduct UX research, define interaction flows, and ensure compliance with accessibility and ergonomic standards.
Create and maintain design system guidelines and UI asset libraries for both firmware and companion desktop/mobile apps.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams (firmware, hardware, AI pipeline, and FPGA teams) to synchronize system-state feedback in the interface (status indicators, RGB feedback, OTA updates, etc.).
Develop proof-of-concept prototypes for testing animation performance, latency, and power optimization.
Ensure UI responsiveness and clarity across multiple display modes (2D/3D, HDR, variable refresh rates).
Required Skills & Experience
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Interaction Design, Computer Science, Human–Computer Interaction (HCI), or equivalent.
3+ years of hands-on experience designing embedded, hardware-integrated, or OS-level UI systems.
Proficiency with embedded UI frameworks (Qt/QML, LVGL, Flutter Embedded, TouchGFX, or similar).
Experience with prototyping tools (Figma, Framer, Adobe XD, or similar) and translating designs into implementable UI code.
Understanding of touch hardware calibration, multi-touch event handling, and sensor-based UX triggers.
Familiarity with display technologies (MIPI DSI/eDP, OLED/IPS panels), VRR/HDR concepts, and real-time rendering constraints.
Ability to collaborate across firmware and software engineering disciplines, interpret technical requirements, and visualize system states clearly.
Strong eye for visual hierarchy, interaction feedback, and motion design within hardware limitations.
Excellent communication, documentation, and cross-team coordination skills.
Preferred (Nice-to-Have)
Experience with 3D interfaces, autostereoscopic displays, or depth-mapped UX.
Familiarity with AI-enhanced visuals (upscaling, motion interpolation) or real-time sensor visualizations.
Prior experience on embedded Linux, Android, or custom OS UI layers.
Skills in OpenGL/Vulkan rendering, shader-based visual effects, or GPU-aware UI optimization.
Exposure to hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) or remote emulation testing for interface validation.
Key Deliverable
Interface Prototype Launcher – A functional UI prototype demonstrating core user flows and visual behavior, suitable for client validation and firmware integration.
Touch Calibration & Input Mapping Module – End-to-end UX implementation ensuring precise, adaptive touch interaction across devices and screen sizes.
Final On-Device Interface Design Pack – Complete design system, component library, and UI specifications for integration into firmware builds.
What We Offer
Fully remote collaboration with a world-class embedded and firmware engineering team.
Opportunity to shape the user experience for an innovative hardware-software hybrid device.
Direct impact on UI systems that bridge cutting-edge display technology and intuitive interaction.
Competitive compensation and long-term project potential.
Submit your application including:
- Resume/CV highlighting relevant experience
- Portfolio or GitHub profile (where applicable)
- Brief cover letter explaining your interest in the project
