Unarmed Security Officer (7853)

Job Summary
Sentry Force Security is currently hiring experienced Unarmed Security Officers to support operations across multiple locations within the City of Norfolk.

In this role, officers will perform a wide range of security functions, including controlling site access, conducting routine patrols, deterring criminal activity, monitoring surveillance systems, enforcing parking regulations, and responding to incidents as they arise. Additional responsibilities may include investigating suspicious behavior, providing customer assistance, handling alarm activations, documenting activity, and ensuring only authorized individuals are permitted on-site.

Candidates should be dependable, observant, and professional, with the ability to respond effectively in both routine and emergency situations while maintaining a strong visible presence.

We are actively recruiting for all shifts and days of operation. Specific schedules will be discussed during the interview process.

• Hourly rate: $16.00 and up

Duties

• Report to your assigned worksite on time.
• Adhere to company policies and procedures.
• Respond to complaints and disturbances.
• Conduct regular patrols and ensure all scan points are checked during rounds.
• Report and document all incidents that occur on the premises.
• Maintain situational awareness and readiness to respond to potential security threats.
• Access control.
• Parking enforcement.
• Crime prevention.
• Surveillance.
• Alarm response

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Relevant certifications in security or law enforcement preferred.
• Must have a Virginia DCJS Unarmed License.
• Pre-employment drug screening required.
• 2 years of security, military or law enforcement experience preferred.
• Professional appearance and communication required.
• Ability to generate comprehensive field reports for client and internal review.
• Familiarity with CCTV systems and surveillance techniques is a plus.
• Strong technological literacy.
• Strong conflict management skills with the ability to remain calm under pressure.
• Certification in CPR and First Aid is preferred but not mandatory; training may be provided.
• Excellent observational skills with attention to detail.
• Ability to work independently as well as part of a team in a dynamic environment.
