Job Description
The Unit Head – Environmental, Social & Climate Risk will be responsible for managing the Bank’s Environmental, Social & Climate Risk (ESCR) framework within the Risk Management Division. The role is primarily responsible for identifying, assessing, monitoring, and reporting environmental, social, and climate-related risks across the Bank’s lending and business portfolio. The incumbent will ensure alignment with State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) guidelines, internal risk policies, and sustainable risk management practices while supporting responsible and risk-aware business growth.

Qualification: Minimum Graduate, preferably MBA in Banking / Finance / Actuarial Sciences / Environmental Sciences from an HEC recognized university.
Experience: Preferably 3 to 5 years of relevant banking experience in Risk Management, with sound exposure to Environmental, Social, Climate Risk, Credit Risk, or Regulatory Risk functions.

Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the implementation and ongoing enhancement of the Bank’s Environmental, Social & Climate Risk (ESCR) framework in line with regulatory requirements and internal risk policies.
- Identify, assess, and monitor environmental, social, and climate-related risks across the Bank’s credit, investment, and operational portfolio.
- Review credit proposals, borrower profiles, and financing transactions from an ESCR perspective to ensure compliance with regulatory expectations and internal risk standards.
- Conduct Environmental & Social Due Diligence (ESDD) for borrowers, projects, and high-risk sectors to identify environmental, social, climate, and reputational risks.
- Develop and maintain ESCR screening tools, sector risk assessment matrices, risk scorecards, and portfolio monitoring mechanisms for effective risk evaluation.
- Prepare periodic risk reports, management dashboards, and committee papers on ESCR exposures, emerging risks, and mitigation measures for senior management review.
- Support climate risk governance initiatives including climate risk assessment, scenario analysis, portfolio stress considerations, and climate-related reporting.
- Track emerging ESG, climate risk, and sustainable finance developments to strengthen the Bank’s ESCR risk governance and monitoring framework.
