Position Title: UNIX Systems Administrator (Senior Linux Engineer)

Location: Ocoee, FL
Duration: 4 months (with potential for extension)

Position Overview

We are seeking a highly experienced UNIX Systems Administrator / Senior Linux Engineer to support and maintain a large-scale Linux environment. This role requires deep expertise in Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) administration, automation, and enterprise infrastructure support. The ideal candidate will be a strong problem solver with excellent communication skills and the ability to manage and optimize a complex Linux server estate.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide operational support for a large Linux server environment (300+ servers)

  • Perform system maintenance, including OS patching, upgrades, and lifecycle management

  • Build and configure Linux servers with customized configurations

  • Conduct system tuning to meet application-specific performance requirements

  • Manage and remediate server security vulnerabilities

  • Monitor systems using enterprise monitoring tools and respond to alerts

  • Develop, maintain, and enhance automation using Ansible playbooks

  • Administer and upgrade Ansible Automation Platform and Satellite 6

  • Support VMware-based virtualized environments

  • Perform server migrations and infrastructure upgrades

  • Troubleshoot complex system, performance, and networking issues

  • Resolve incident and service request tickets within defined SLAs

  • Ensure systems comply with organizational technology roadmaps and standards

Required Qualifications

  • 10+ years of experience in UNIX/Linux systems administration

  • Strong expertise in RHEL 8 and RHEL 9 administration and patch management

  • Hands-on experience with Linux server builds and custom configurations

  • Experience tuning Linux systems supporting Oracle database workloads

  • Proven experience in security vulnerability management

  • Strong knowledge of SolarWinds monitoring

  • Extensive experience with Ansible (playbook development and automation)

  • Experience managing Ansible Automation Platform and Satellite 6

  • Solid understanding of VMware environments

  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills

  • Excellent knowledge of TCP/IP networking, network topology, and firewalled environments

  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail

  • Effective written and verbal communication skills

Nice to Have

  • Basic knowledge of storage management

  • Basic database administration experience

  • Exposure to Windows systems administration

  • Familiarity with cloud integration concepts

  • Experience with Veritas NetBackup

  • Working knowledge of enterprise applications such as JBoss, WebSphere, Splunk, and ALM tools

Additional Responsibilities

  • Standardize UNIX/Linux environments through automation and best practices

  • Ensure compliance with infrastructure standards and technology roadmaps

  • Support OS, hardware, and third-party software upgrades

  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives for system reliability and performance
