Upholstery Stitcher
Job Summary
The Upholstery Stitcher is responsible for sewing, assembling, and repairing upholstery covers for furniture, automotive interiors, marine vessels, and other upholstered products. The role requires precision stitching, attention to detail, and the ability to work with various fabrics, leather, vinyl, and synthetic materials to produce high-quality finished products.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate industrial sewing machines and upholstery equipment.
- Sew and assemble upholstery covers, cushions, seat covers, and interior trim components.
- Cut, measure, and prepare fabric, leather, vinyl, and other materials according to specifications.
- Read patterns, templates, drawings, and work instructions.
- Perform decorative stitching, topstitching, and reinforcement stitching as required.
- Repair damaged upholstery, seams, and covers.
- Inspect finished products to ensure quality, accuracy, and durability.
- Maintain sewing machines and tools in proper working condition.
- Collaborate with upholsterers and production teams to meet project requirements and deadlines.
- Follow workplace safety procedures and maintain a clean work area.
Qualifications and Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Proven experience in upholstery stitching, tailoring, or industrial sewing.
- Ability to operate single-needle, double-needle, and walking-foot sewing machines.
- Knowledge of upholstery materials, patterns, and sewing techniques.
- Strong attention to detail and craftsmanship.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
