Upper School Psychologist / Counselor

Upper School Psychologist / Counselor
Reporting to the Director of Counseling and Wellness and the Head of Upper School Student Life, the Upper School Psychologist/Counselor partners with Student Life to support students in Grades 9–12, advancing their social, emotional, and psychological well-being in a rigorous academic environment.
The Psychologist/Counselor brings expertise in working with adolescents and families, providing individual and small-group counseling, delivering classroom instruction, and collaborating with administrators on student needs and division-wide initiatives. They work closely with teachers, grade heads, and advisors to promote well-being, strengthen relationships, and foster an inclusive school culture.
This role is part of a K–12 team of mental health professionals collaborating across divisions to ensure continuity of care and shared best practices.

Responsibilities:
  • Provide direct support to Upper School students, addressing social, emotional, behavioral, and mental health needs
  • Deliver crisis intervention and trauma-informed support, and contribute to division-wide crisis response planning
  • Facilitate small group counseling to build healthy coping strategies and resilience
  • Partner with families to support student well-being and develop individualized support plans
  • Collaborate closely with Upper School Student Life on all aspects of student social, emotional, and mental health
  • Participate in the Student Support Team, helping assess needs and guide coordinated support strategies
  • Develop and implement student support plans in partnership with leadership, learning specialists, nurses, faculty, families, and external providers
  • Partner with Upper School leadership to design and sustain programs that promote a healthy, balanced student experience, including parent and family engagement
  • Lead and advise student-centered initiatives and interventions that respond to emerging needs
  • Work with grade heads, advisors, and teachers to ensure a consistent, positive, and engaging student experience
  • Maintain accurate and confidential student records, including meeting notes and support documentation
Qualifications:
  • Licensed Mental Health Counselor or LCSW (Licensed Clinical Social Worker) required; PhD or PsyD in clinical or school psychology preferred
  • 3–5 years of relevant experience in a school setting
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with adolescents and partner with families
  • Experience leading or contributing to faculty professional development

Salary
The salary for this position ranges from $105,000 to $125,000, depending on experience.
