Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented and analytical Utility Billing Analyst to join our Company. This role involves managing utility billing processes, reconciling accounts, and ensuring accurate financial reporting. The ideal candidate will possess strong accounting skills, experience with various financial software, and a solid understanding of industry-specific concepts such as compliance, and revenue cycle management. This position offers an opportunity to contribute to the efficient operation of our utility services while maintaining high standards of accuracy and customer service.
Duties
- Prepare and process utility bills accurately using accounting software such as QuickBooks, Sage, PeopleSoft, El Dorado, or similar systems.
- Reconcile accounts receivable and accounts payable to ensure consistency and accuracy in billing records.
- Perform account analysis to identify discrepancies or irregularities in billing data.
- Enter data efficiently with high accuracy, including journal entries and double-entry bookkeeping.
- Manage the revenue cycle from billing through collections, including medical billing and medical collections if applicable.
- Conduct account reconciliation regularly to verify the integrity of financial data.
- Assist with month-end closing procedures and prepare reports for management review.
- Support internal audits by providing necessary documentation and explanations of billing activities.
- Maintain detailed documentation of billing processes and procedures for audit purposes.
- Collaborate with customer service teams to resolve billing inquiries professionally via phone or email.
- Utilize analysis skills to interpret financial data, identify trends, and recommend process improvements.
Skills
- Proficiency in accounting software such as QuickBooks, Sage, PeopleSoft, or similar platforms.
- Strong understanding of financial concepts including debits & credits, journal entries, account reconciliation, and double-entry bookkeeping.
- Excellent data entry skills with a focus on accuracy (10 key typing).
- Analytical skills for account analysis and financial reporting.
- Strong negotiation skills for collections or dispute resolution when necessary.
- Effective communication skills including phone etiquette and customer service orientation.
- Ability to handle multiple tasks efficiently while maintaining attention to detail in a fast-paced environment. The successful candidate will be integral in ensuring accurate financial operations while supporting organizational compliance and customer satisfaction standards.
Pay: $19.00 - $21.00 per hour
