JOB SUMMARY
This position is responsible for reviewing civil engineering plans, conducting on-site inspections of utility installations, and ensuring compliance with the Georgia Soil and Erosion Control Act.
MAJOR DUTIES
- Review construction plans for compliance with the City of Pooler Details and Specifications Manual, local codes and ordinances.
- Coordinates with other superintendents and review engineers.
- Review and sign off on soil and erosion plans.
- Performs on site compliance at construction sites.
- Performs inspections for infrastructure.

SUPERVISORY CONTROLS
The Assistant Public Works Director assigns work in terms of general instructions. The supervisor spot-checks completed work for compliance with procedures, accuracy, and the nature and propriety of the final results.

Guidelines include Pooler Details and Specification Manual, local codes and ordninances. These guidelines are generally clear and specific but may require some interpretation in application.
COMPLEXITY/SCOPE OF WORK
The work consists of related technical duties. Field conditions contribute to the complexity of the work.

- Contacts are typically with co workers, vendors, other city employees, contractors, and the general public.
- Contacts are typically to give or exchange information, resolve problems.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS/ WORK ENVIRONMENT
- The work is typically performed while sitting at a desk or table or while intermittently sitting, standing, stooping, bending or crouching. The employee frequently lifts light and occasionally heavy objects, climbs ladders, uses tools or equipment requiring a high degree of dexterity, distinguishes between shades of color.
- The work is typically performed in an office and outdoors, occasionally in cold or inclement weather. The employee is exposed to dust, dirt, grease, and machinery with moving parts. Work requires the use of protective devices such as masks, goggles, gloves, etc.
SUPERVISORY AND MANAGEMENT RESPONSIBILITY
This position has direct supervision of personnel in the Utility Inspections division.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Knowledge and level of competency commonly associated with completion of specialized training in the field of work, in addition to basic skills typically associated with a high school education.
- Sufficient experience to understand the basic principles relevant to the major duties of the position, usually associated with the completion of an apprenticeship/internship or having had a similar position for one to two years.
Possession of or ability to readily obtain a valid driver- ™s license issued by the State of Georgia for the type of vehicle or equipment operated.
