Job Title: UX Content Designer

About the Role:
As a UX Content Designer, you’ll craft experiences that help billions of users everyday. Your portfolio demonstrates a knack for improving user experiences by simplifying language. You will drive cohesion across product areas and platforms, defining guidelines and requirements while diving into complex, cross-functional projects. You influence leadership by fostering trust and adding value. You design through the lens of language and culture. You leverage heuristics and expertise in user experience, research, art direction and creative development that are rooted in design thinking and product strategy.
You have a keen understanding of how words can shape intuitive products and services across the globe. You have experience leaning on data and research to get to the heart users need to design and deliver product flows, new features, in-product language, content frameworks, navigation, product naming and more, for platforms including mobile, desktop.
Key Responsibilities:
Draft, write, edit, test, and document clear, compelling in-product language enabling the growth of products and surfaces.
Navigate ambiguity and fast chaining priorities by taking projects and running with them.
Drive requirements that help users and teams meet their goals through informing product flows, interface language, education materials, product names, navigational nomenclature, terminology, and taxonomies across products and experiences.
Craft CUJ’s to quickly understand the JTBD, user flows, and happy paths.
Partner with product and eng to draft product narratives.
Help define UX design lifecycles, using writing and content design skills to create UI text that facilitates user navigation, onboarding, promos, error messages, instructional materials, and other components of the user experience and help grow the product.
Help develop evaluative frameworks for generated content.
Drive ideas for product language and content across a product or subject-matter domain, and ensure cohesive product narratives; Document your strategies with guidelines, and establish best practices and strategy principles.
Collaborate with designers, researchers, legal, marketing, product managers, and engineers; Influence and adapt to stakeholders and their feedback.
Advocate and demonstrate the value of the UX Content Design and content strategy throughout the product development process.
Apply systems thinking to the product, whether it’s defining design system guidance, conducting audits of existing experiences or creating information architecture.
Give and solicit feedback from your UX design peers in service of building the best products.
Create or contribute to high-fidelity design mocks using Figma.
Demonstrate sound judgment and help shape product narratives, along with team direction and strategy.
Independently and proactively identify work on projects that span multiple teams.
Content Craft & Clarity
Write, Edit, and Test: Draft, write, edit, and document clear, compelling in-product language, including onboarding, promos, error messages, and instructional materials.
Information Architecture: Apply systems thinking to the product, contributing to information architecture, content frameworks, navigation, terminology, and taxonomies across products and experiences.
Design Artifacts: Craft high-fidelity design mocks using tools like Figma, and create Customer User Journeys (CUJs) to quickly understand Jobs To Be Done (JTBD), user flows, and happy paths.
Global Focus: Partner with the internationalization team to ensure product experiences are of the highest quality in every language.
Strategic Application of Data & Research
Strategic Content: Drive ideas for product language and content across a product or subject-matter domain, ensuring cohesive product narratives. You will help define the UX design lifecycle.
Data and Research: Leverage heuristics and expertise in user experience and research. Use data and research to inform and deliver product flows, new features, in-product language, and more.
Guidelines & Frameworks: Document your strategies with guidelines, establish best practices, and contribute to developing frameworks for evaluating generated content.
Autonomy in Ambiguity: Independently and proactively identify and work on projects, often spanning multiple teams. You will navigate ambiguity and fast-changing priorities, taking ownership and running with projects.
Cross-Functional Collaboration & Influence
Collaboration: Collaborate daily with a wide range of peers across disciplines, including designers, researchers, engineers, product managers, legal, marketing, and data science.
Influence and Cohesion: Drive cohesion across product areas and platforms. Influence stakeholders by fostering trust and adding value.
UX Advocacy: Advocate and demonstrate the value of UX Content Design and content strategy throughout the product development process. Give and solicit feedback from UX design peers to build the best products.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Communications, English, Design, or a related field
5+ years of experience in UX writing
Proven ability to simplify and communicate complex ideas to broad audiences
Familiarity with content management tools and design systems
Demonstrated experience leading projects with minimal direction and navigating ambiguity
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience interacting with executive leadership
Experience in an agency setting or complex, cross-functional technology organization
Familiarity with user experience research principles and practices
Knowledge of online technology, web, and mobile UI tools
