Job Purpose:
To lead value engineering initiatives across design and construction stages, ensuring optimal balance between functionality, cost-effectiveness, quality, and sustainability in line with client objectives, project specifications, and international best practices.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct Value Engineering (VE) studies during design and construction phases to optimize project costs without compromising safety, quality, or functionality.
- Review design drawings, specifications, and BOQs to identify cost-saving opportunities and alternative solutions.
- Collaborate with designers, consultants, and QS engineers to evaluate materials, systems, and construction methods.
- Prepare and present VE reports, workshops, and recommendations for approval by stakeholders.
- Ensure compliance with Qatar Construction Standards (QCS), Ashghal, UPDA, and international codes.
- Lead multi-disciplinary VE sessions with engineers, architects, and project managers.
- Provide life-cycle cost analysis (LCCA) to assess long-term efficiency of proposed alternatives.
- Monitor and control the implementation of approved VE recommendations during project execution.
- Support in tender evaluation and bid analysis, ensuring value-based decision-making.
- Mentor junior engineers and contribute to developing VE procedures, guidelines, and best practices.
Qualifications & Skills:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering (Civil/Architecture) from a recognized university.
- UPDA Grade A certification (mandatory).
- Minimum 10 years’ experience in design, cost optimization, and value engineering in large-scale infrastructure/building projects.
- Strong knowledge of contracts, procurement strategies, and cost control principles.
- Proficiency in value engineering methodologies (FAST diagrams, Function Analysis).
- Familiarity with international VE standards (SAVE International, ASTM E1699).
- Excellent skills in MS Office, Primavera, AutoCAD, BIM tools (preferred).
