VAS Design Engineer
Position Objective:
Manage network design telecom platforms, with a primary focus on Value-Added Services (VAS) and Roaming solutions. The role is responsible for ensuring scalable, resilient, and high-performing service architectures, enabling reliable service delivery, seamless integration, and effective interworking across all relevant network, IT, and operational domains. Additionally, the role drives technology evolution, service innovation, and architectural alignment with business objectives, industry standards, and future network transformation initiatives.
Job Description & Responsibilities:
- Manage architecture, design, evolution, and lifecycle management of Value-Added Services (VAS) and Roaming platforms, including SMSF, LMF, CBCF, SMSC, SMS Firewall, MMSC, MCA, MCC, DMC, OTA, RBT, IVR, Voicemail, Voice SMS, USSD, NTR, OM, SCAP, SC/SCA, RDNA, analytics platforms, and related service enablement systems.
- Define and develop the capabilities required to support 5G Standalone (SA) services, cloud-native architectures, and next-generation digital service platforms.
- Drive the transformation, modernization, and migration of VAS and Roaming services in alignment with emerging technologies, industry best practices, and strategic business objectives.
- Manage end-to-end capacity planning, forecasting, performance optimization, and expansion activities across VAS and Roaming platforms to ensure service scalability and operational efficiency.
- Design and maintain business continuity, geo-redundancy, disaster recovery, and multi-layer resilience solutions for VAS and Roaming services in accordance with Risk Management requirements and service availability targets.
- Collaborate with Mobility, Transport, Fixed Services, IT, Cybersecurity, and Operations teams to ensure seamless introduction, integration, and lifecycle management of VAS and Roaming platforms.
- Manage end-to-end validation, verification, integration testing, and domain acceptance activities for new VNFs, CNFs, services, and platform upgrades.
- Design and manage cloud-native service architectures utilizing NFV, OPNFV, Service Chaining, NFVI, VIM, NFVO, VNFs, CNFs, and orchestration frameworks.
- Develop, review, and approve VAS and Roaming service dimensioning models, solution designs, capacity plans, and Methods of Procedure (MOPs).
- Maintain, review, and approve technical documentation, including High-Level Designs (HLDs), Low-Level Designs (LLDs), Integration Specifications, Solution Design Documents, and architecture standards.
- Translate strategic deployment roadmaps and business requirements into detailed technical designs, implementation plans, and service rollout activities.
- Perform architecture assessments and solution design activities for multi-access technologies, converged services, roaming innovations, and new digital service offerings.
- Evaluate and validate vendor technical solutions, ensuring alignment with business requirements, industry standards, security policies, and CST regulatory requirements.
- Prepare, review, and evaluate RFIs, RFPs, RFQs, and related technical documentation for VAS and Roaming platforms, services, and annual business initiatives.
- Validate and approve Bills of Quantities (BOQs), support procurement processes, and participate in technical vendor evaluations and selection activities.
- Identify and deliver business value through service innovation, operational efficiency improvements, cost optimization initiatives, enhanced customer experience, and new revenue-generating capabilities.
- Conduct Proofs of Concept (PoCs), technology assessments, and innovation initiatives, providing recommendations for the adoption of emerging technologies and services.
- Ensure close collaboration with Cybersecurity and Data Protection teams to incorporate security-by-design principles, compliance requirements, and data protection controls into all VAS and Roaming solutions.
- Support Consumer, Enterprise, Wholesale, and other business units in technology enablement initiatives, including strategy development, operating model design, solution architecture, service creation, and productization. Provide technical leadership and governance throughout the solution lifecycle, ensuring VAS and Roaming platforms remain secure, scalable, resilient, and aligned with the organization's digital transformation strategy.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Bachelor of Science in Telecommunication Engineering.
- 5+ years of experience in telecommunication industry, with a clear in-depth exposure on VAS and Roaming Services design
- Experience with major suppliers and Communications Service Providers are highly desirable
- Tender preparation experience on relevant network elements and solutions
- Can perform necessary architecture analysis and design activities
- Hands on experience in network automation and orchestration using automation technologies
- Solid knowledge about 5G Standalone Core, Telco Cloud, and security requirements
- Good knowledge of executive management reporting, presentations and dashboards concepts with good analytical skills.

- Excellent Analysis and problem-solving skills
- English language proficiency level is Fluent
