Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced VAT Consultant to manage VAT compliance, reporting, and advisory functions for our FMCG operations in the UAE. The ideal candidate will have deep expertise in UAE VAT law, strong analytical skills, and hands-on experience managing VAT submissions within high-volume FMCG environments. This role ensures full compliance with FTA regulations while optimizing tax efficiency and supporting internal stakeholders on VAT-related matters.

Key ResponsibilitiesVAT Compliance & Submissions

  • Prepare, review, and submit monthly/quarterly VAT returns to the Federal Tax Authority (FTA).
  • Ensure timely and accurate filing of VAT returns, refund applications, and disclosures.
  • Maintain complete and compliant documentation supporting VAT calculations and submissions.
  • Monitor changes in UAE VAT legislation and ensure company compliance.

Tax Advisory & Support

  • Act as the in-house VAT subject-matter expert, advising on tax implications of transactions, contracts, pricing, promotions, and supply-chain activities.
  • Conduct regular VAT impact assessments for new products, channels, and business models.
  • Support procurement, sales, logistics, and finance teams with VAT-related guidance.

Reconciliation & Reporting

  • Perform monthly VAT reconciliations between VAT returns, general ledger, and financial statements.
  • Review VAT coding, input/output VAT treatment, and ensure accuracy across AP, AR, and POS systems.
  • Identify discrepancies, investigate root causes, and ensure corrections are accurately recorded.

Risk Management & Controls

  • Implement strong internal controls to ensure VAT compliance across business units.
  • Conduct periodic VAT health checks and internal reviews to identify compliance gaps.
  • Manage and respond to FTA queries, audits, and inspection requests.
  • Ensure proper documentation for VAT audits and regulatory compliance.

Process Improvement & Training

  • Work closely with finance and operations teams to streamline VAT processes.
  • Conduct VAT compliance training for internal teams, including sales, procurement, and finance.
  • Recommend system improvements related to VAT configuration in ERP (SAP, Oracle, or similar).

Qualifications & ExperienceEducation & Certifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field.
  • Professional tax or accounting qualification preferred (e.g., ACCA, CPA, CMA, CTA).

Experience

  • 5–7 years of VAT experience, with at least 3 years in the UAE.
  • Experience in FMCG, retail, distribution, trading, or manufacturing sectors is mandatory.
  • Hands-on experience with VAT reporting, compliance, and FTA interactions.
  • Strong understanding of UAE VAT Law, Executive Regulations, and GCC VAT frameworks.

Skills & Competencies

  • Deep expertise in VAT regulations, compliance procedures, and documentation.
  • Proficiency in ERP systems (SAP, Oracle, Microsoft Dynamics, Tally, etc.).
  • Strong analytical and reconciliation skills with high attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to explain VAT concepts to non-finance stakeholders.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet strict filing deadlines.

Job Types: Full-time, Temporary, Contract

Pay: AED7,000.00 - AED7,500.00 per month
