VDC Specialist II
Role, Function & Organization
The Specialist II, VDC is responsible for independently developing accurate 3D models of electrical systems for construction projects, ensuring alignment with project schedules and field requirements. This role requires effective collaboration with the VDC team, Project Managers, field supervisors, and other trade partners to coordinate layout and installation details. This position also involves occasional 2D drafting and documentation work. This specialist plays a key role in supporting construction efficiency and ensuring models meet quality and coordination standards.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
3D Modeling & Coordination:
-
Create accurate 3D elements for electrical work on construction projects, ensuring alignment with project schedules and field requirements

Coordinate models and drawings with project field supervisors

Finalize install and as-built drawings and deliver them to project management for field use

Support less experienced VDC team members by offering guidance and sharing modeling expertise when requested
Clash Detection & Resolution:
-
Perform clash detection and resolve conflicts independently by collaborating with other trades

Utilize various VDC software platforms to facilitate coordination and model integration
Drafting & Documentation:

Develop 2D CAD drawings as needed for prefabrication, details, one-lines, and layout

Produce accurate as-built drawings and maintain up-to-date project documentation, including drawing files, correspondence, and schedules
Project Communication & Process Improvement:

Participate in coordination meetings with general contractors, architects, and engineers to stay informed on new or updated tools that may enhance efficiency

Utilize and develop Revit families and templates to standardize modeling practices

Maintain current software licenses and stay informed on new or updated tools that may enhance efficiency
Safety/Hazard Recognition & Elimination:

Pre-plan and identify the methods to eliminate hazards daily by work task.

Execute skill in observing habits and hazards of others and bringing it to their attention.

Promote and encourage open communication between field and office regarding all safety concerns, suggestions, improvements, and PPE needed.

Obtain safety training as expected by all company personnel.
Qualifications and Requirements

Associates degree in Architectural Technology (or related construction degree or experience) preferred

2-5 years experience in Virtual Design Construction

Electrical contracting/construction experience preferred

Proficiency in Revit, AutoCAD, BIM 360, Navisworks, and Microsoft Suite software
Experience, Skill and Abilities

Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (including Excel, Word, Outlook, and Teams)

Physical Requirements

Office environment, requiring sitting and standing and extended amounts of time using a computer/keyboard at a single workstation.
