Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform powertrain performance analysis, including torque curve understanding, engine/motor power demand, and system behaviour.
  • Run and analyse vehicle simulations across multiple routes/drive cycles under transient and steady-state conditions.
  • Develop, maintain, and optimize MATLAB scripts/functions for:
  • Data processing and automation
  • Physics-based calculations (power, fuel/energy consumption)
  • Visualization and reporting
  • Work with Excel-based models, including:
  • Cost inputs (fuel/energy, maintenance, depreciation, consumables)
  • Operating cycle and utilization assumptions.
  • Comparative evaluations across vehicle/powertrain configurations.
  • Ability to modify, audit and improve TCO spreadsheets.
  • Analyse simulation data to identify trends, correlations, and engineering insights.
  • Contribute to powertrain architecture, component integration understanding and requirement development.
  • Support validation of simulation models against physical testing.
  • Create clean documentation, technical reports and result summaries.

Required Skills & Experience
  • Experience Range: 4-6 years of experience in Powertrain, Vehicle Dynamics, or Simulation Engineering.
  • Educational Qualification : Engineering graduate in Electronics Engineering or allied branches.
  • Strong understanding of:
  • Engine/vehicle longitudinal dynamics.
  • Tractive effort, rolling resistance, aerodynamic drag.
  • Torque curves, efficiency maps, fuel consumption fundamentals.
  • Duty cycle analysis.
  • Knowledge of hybrid powertrains or EV energy flow fundamentals.
  • Hands-on expertise in MATLAB (mandatory):
  • MATLAB scripting, functions, vectorization.
  • Data handling, tables, structures, interpolation, curve fitting.
  • Writing modular and clean engineering code.
  • Experience with simulation tools (any of the following):
  • MATLAB/Simulink, or equivalent.
  • Hands-on experience with Excel and PowerBI.
  • Good Excel formulas, pivot tables, and structured calculations.
  • Understanding of operating costs, fixed vs variable costs, and lifecycle cost modelling.
  • Ability to update, debug, and optimize TCO spreadsheets.
