Verification Specialist

General Summary

The Financial Services/Benefit Verification Specialist will be responsible for obtaining detailed benefit information for procedures/surgical services before the patient's appointment; will collect and process co-pay/deductibles on surgical services; and escalate complex inquiries or inquiries from payors to the appropriate Business Office Team Member.

Minimum Qualifications

1. Must have 1-2 years of previous experience obtaining detailed benefits and out-of-pocket information.

2. Must display a basic understanding of medical business office billing and collections practices.

3. Must display an advanced understanding of multi-line telephone and scheduling systems.

4. Must show the ability to have excellent interpersonal skills and communication to interact with all walks of life, internal and external to UCA, from all educational or cultural backgrounds.

5. Must display advanced reasoning and problem-solving skills.

6. Must show the ability to work independently and within a team in a fast-paced and stressful environment.

7. Must show proficiency in the use of a variety of office equipment including a PC, Windows, MS Office, EMR system, copier, etc.

8. Must show the ability to maintain confidentiality, including strict adherence to HIPAA and UCA Guidelines.

9. Must have a high school diploma or GED equivalent.

Preferred Qualifications

1. Previous customer service representative or similar experience preferred.

2. Previous experience using Phreesia.

3. Knowledge of Allscripts EMR and PM system.
