Job Title: Veterinary Doctor (Assistant Veterinarian – Pets)Job Summary:
We are looking for a dedicated and compassionate Veterinary Doctor to join our team as a Veterinary Assistant, focusing primarily on cats and dogs. The ideal candidate will support senior veterinarians in providing high-quality medical care, assist during treatments and surgeries, and ensure the overall health and comfort of animals in our clinic.
Applicants must hold a degree in Veterinary Medicine and have relevant clinical experience with small animals.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist veterinarians in diagnosing, treating, and caring for pets (mainly cats and dogs).
- Prepare animals for examinations, surgeries, and diagnostic procedures.
- Support during surgeries by monitoring anesthesia and maintaining sterile technique.
- Perform routine clinical tasks such as vaccinations, deworming, nail trimming, and blood collection.
- Operate laboratory machines, including hematology and biochemistry analyzers.
- Assist with diagnostic imaging, including X-ray positioning and operation, and ultrasound preparation/support.
- Place IV cannulas and assist with fluid therapy and medication administration.
- Provide nursing care for hospitalized or recovering patients, including monitoring vital signs and ensuring comfort.
- Maintain accurate patient records and assist with treatment documentation.
- Educate pet owners on preventive healthcare, nutrition, and home care after treatment.
- Help maintain clinic hygiene, sterilize instruments, and manage medical supplies.
- Support the team with administrative and reception duties when required.
Requirements:
- Degree in Veterinary Medicine (DVM or equivalent) from a recognized institution.
- 1–3 years of experience working with small animals (cats and dogs).
- Proficient in blood and chemistry machine use, X-ray procedures, ultrasound assistance, and IV cannula placement.
- Strong animal handling and restraint skills.
- Excellent communication, teamwork, and organizational abilities.
- Compassionate, professional, and able to work under supervision following clinic protocols.
Preferred Skills:
- Experience in pet clinics, grooming, or boarding facilities.
- Familiarity with minor surgical procedures and laboratory testing.
- Basic knowledge of clinic management software and electronic record systems.
