Veterinary Assistant (Full Time)

Job Overview

Our busy, progressive companion animal hospital is looking for a Veterinary Assistant to join our team! This is a great opportunity for someone with some veterinary or animal experience who wants to continue building their hands-on skills in a supportive, fast-paced environment.

Schedule

• Full-time
• 5, 8-hour shifts (with potential for 4, 10-hour shifts after training period)

Responsibilities

• Assist veterinarians with exams and treatments
• Safely handle and restrain patients
• Help prepare patients for surgery and dental procedures
• Monitor patients and assist with procedures
• Administer medications as directed
• Collect and process lab samples
• Maintain accurate medical records
• Keep exam rooms and treatment areas clean and organized
• Communicate with clients about patient care and follow-up

Qualifications

• Some experience working with animals required (veterinary clinic, kennel, shelter, or similar)
• Comfortable handling animals of various sizes and temperaments
• Willingness to learn and grow in a clinical setting
• Strong teamwork and communication skills
• Ability to stay organized in a fast-paced environment

Nice to have (but not required):

• Veterinary clinic experience
• Anesthesia monitoring experience
• Familiarity with Avimark or in-house lab equipment
