Contractual engagement, initially till March 2026 and extendable based on performance and program requirements. The Veterinary Doctor (Junior Research Fellow) will support research-driven and field-based initiatives aimed at improving livestock productivity, animal health, and farm-level sustainability. The role focuses on developing practical, science-based solutions for pig rearing systems, capacity building, and the promotion of innovative husbandry and value-chain practices suited to local conditions.
Education & Qualifications:

Bachelor of Veterinary Science & Animal Husbandry (B.V.Sc & A.H.) from a recognized institution.

Registration with the State Veterinary Council / Veterinary Council of India (mandatory).

Preference for candidates with experience or exposure to livestock research, animal breeding, or rural development programs.
Experience:
Fresh graduates are eligible to apply. Candidates with 2–3 years of relevant research or field experience in piggery, animal nutrition, or disease management will be preferred.

Scope of Work:
Applied Research and Technical Support

Undertake field-based studies and trials on breeding, nutrition, disease management, and husbandry practices tailored to local livestock systems.

Support activities related to artificial insemination, semen processing, and genetic improvement programs for swine and small livestock.

Assist in the development of feed formulations using locally available resources and contribute to improving feed efficiency and farm profitability.

Contribute to the design and dissemination of sustainable livestock management models that promote biosecurity and animal welfare.
Animal Health and Preventive Care

Provide diagnostic, treatment, and preventive veterinary services for livestock under assigned operational areas.

Implement vaccination and deworming programs, monitor disease outbreaks, and strengthen biosecurity measures at farm and community levels.

Offer field-based advisory and teleconsultation support to farmers and extension personnel for improved herd health and management.
Capacity Building and Field Demonstration

Conduct training, demonstrations, and workshops for farmers, service providers, and youth on scientific rearing, feed management, and hygienic meat processing.

Support the establishment and technical supervision of demonstration farms, model pig units, and community-based breeding centers.

Prepare training manuals, extension materials, and standard operating procedures for field use.
Collaboration and Knowledge Integration

Work with technical experts, field teams, and partner institutions to strengthen innovation and research linkages.

Facilitate knowledge-sharing platforms and collaborative programs involving local institutions, producer groups, and research agencies.

Assist in monitoring and documentation of field progress, outcomes, and best practices for scaling up successful interventions.
Documentation and Reporting

Maintain clinical records, treatment registers, and field data for analysis.

Prepare technical reports, research summaries, and case studies for internal review and dissemination.

Contribute to progress documentation and database management for project monitoring.
