OPEN UNTIL FILLEDFaculty are expected to work a minimum of 40 hours per week, with a minimum of 20-24 on -campus hours Monday through Friday (position may include day and/or evening work hours). In certain program areas and during certain periods, such as advising ad registration, Faculty may work more than the minimum on-campus hours. Focused on student success, Faculty support the colleges mission by facilitating student learning in and outside of the classroom through high-quality instruction, academic support, and informed advising.
EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Teaching & Instruction: Teach and/or assist college-level courses in Veterinary Medical Technology using dynamic, innovative methodologies across traditional, online, and hybrid formats. Courses should incorporate up-to-date concepts and best practices in Veterinary Medicine Technology to facilitate student learning and achievement of CVTEA competencies at appropriate levels.Curriculum Development: Develop and modify course syllabi, assessments, and instructional materials in accordance with current industry standards, regulations, and best practices. Continuously review and update courses to align with changes in the healthcare industry and ensure relevance to accreditation standards.Student Engagement: Provide students with the necessary support and attention to help them achieve academic success. Foster an interactive learning environment that encourages student participation, critical thinking, and the application of Veterinary Medical Technology principles.Professional Development: Maintain current industry licensure and credentials, including earning annual Continuing Medical Education (CME) or Continuing Education Units (CEUs). Actively participate in professional organizations to stay informed about advancements in the field.Assessment & Evaluation: Identify and assess student learning outcomes through various methods, including exams, assignments, and clinical evaluations. Maintain accurate records of student work and attendance, ensuring timely grading and feedback.Collaboration & Communication: Actively participate in department, college, and system meetings, as well as advisory board meetings, to support the program’s continuous improvement and maintain accreditation standards. Communicate effectively with the Department Head and other faculty members regarding student progress, course updates, and departmental needs.Advising & Support: Assist students in planning their academic paths, including advising on course selection and career development. Be available for scheduled office hours and provide individualized academic support to ensure student success.Course Management: Assist in maintaining the department’s resources, including equipment, materials, and supplies. Ensure that all course-related materials, including Blackboard course sites, are up-to-date and accessible. Complete required training in Blackboard and maintain proficiency in its use.Other Duties: Perform additional responsibilities as assigned, including assisting with proficiency exam preparation and administration, maintaining relationships with clinical sites, student tutoring and remediation, and completing any required reporting or administrative tasks in a timely
manner.Work Environment: Faculty may be required to work during evenings, weekends, or outside of regular office hours based on the needs of students, program activities, or special events.Faculty will collaborate with faculty, staff, and external stakeholders to ensure the program meets accreditation standards and delivers high-quality instruction.Permanent full-time faculty (who are not Department Heads or otherwise required to work 12 months) receive contracts for nine-month periods within a fiscal year and may be contracted on a month-to-month basis in summer per instructional needs.Supervisory ResponsibilitiesThis position has supervisory responsibilities. ________This position does not have supervisory responsibilities. ____X______
