Veterinary Receptionist – Cat-Only Hospital

Cat Hospital of Petaluma is looking for an experienced Veterinary Receptionist/Client Service Representative to join our team. We are seeking someone who is organized, compassionate, detail-oriented, and able to confidently support both our clients and medical team.

This position is ideal for someone who already has experience working in a veterinary hospital and enjoys the client service side of veterinary medicine.

What You'll Do

  • Welcome clients and their cats with professionalism and compassion.
  • Schedule appointments while understanding appropriate appointment types and urgency.
  • Answer phones and triage client concerns appropriately.
  • Process prescription refill requests.
  • Communicate with clients regarding diagnostics, medications, and follow-up care.
  • Maintain accurate medical records.
  • Work closely with veterinarians and technicians to keep the day running smoothly.
  • Assist with patient check-in and discharge.
  • Help with feline restraint when needed.

We're Looking For Someone Who:

  • Has previous veterinary hospital experience (required).
  • Has experience in veterinary reception or is cross-trained as a veterinary assistant/receptionist. (highly preferred)
  • Communicates clearly and professionally with clients and coworkers.
  • Is comfortable multitasking in a busy environment.
  • Pays close attention to detail.
  • Works well independently while also being a team player.
  • Is comfortable asking questions when unsure rather than guessing.
  • Has excellent computer and organizational skills.
  • Excellent attendance record.
  • Enjoys working exclusively with cats.

Previous experience in a veterinary hospital is strongly preferred. Because our reception team plays an important role in supporting medical care, candidates should be comfortable with veterinary terminology, appointment scheduling, prescription requests, and recognizing urgent patient concerns.

Additional Employment Requirement

This position requires the employee to obtain a Controlled Substance Permit after hire. The cost of the permit will be paid by the employer.

As part of the permit application process, applicants must successfully complete the required background check and meet all eligibility requirements to obtain the permit.
