Position Overview

The Vice President and General Manager serves as the strategic and operational leader for Mesa’s Salt Lake City, Utah anchor location, with full P&L responsibility for the site and oversight of additional branch operations across the Intermountain Region. This multidimensional leadership role requires strong business acumen, operational discipline, and a customer-focused mindset to ensure excellence in service delivery, sustainable profitability, and team development across all assigned markets.

Key Responsibilities

  • Branch Leadership & Profitability
  • Lead an anchor branch while managing full P&L accountability across designated satellite locations.
  • Maximize branch and company profitability through effective resource allocation and revenue growth initiatives.
  • Develop and execute comprehensive budgets aligned with corporate goals.
  • Continuously assess and develop employee capabilities while adjusting staffing levels to align with business strategy and market demands.
  • Maintain strong relationships with key accounts and ensure fulfillment of contractual obligations.
  • Operations Management
  • Optimize warehouse utilization and operational workflows for maximum efficiency and profitability.
  • Oversee timely invoicing, collections, and cash flow management to support company financial goals.
  • Communicate branch and company goals to employees and represent branch performance at leadership meetings.
  • Partner with Mesa’s Shared Services and corporate teams to ensure seamless coordination and alignment.
  • Talent & Team Development
  • Lead all facets of recruiting, hiring, onboarding, and succession planning for assigned locations.
  • Conduct performance evaluations and drive talent development initiatives to foster a high-performance culture.
  • Mentor and coach direct reports to promote professional growth and leadership continuity.
  • Customer Focus
  • Champion Mesa’s customer-first culture through exceptional service delivery and proactive client engagement.
  • Resolve service challenges and claims promptly to maintain high customer satisfaction and loyalty.
  • Represent Mesa’s brand and reputation as the visible leader in the regional market.
  • Safety & Compliance
  • Promote and enforce safety excellence through consistent monitoring and adherence to all policies and procedures.
  • Communication & Representation
  • Partner with corporate and shared services teams to ensure open communication, operational alignment, and efficient decision-making across all business units.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Operations Management, or a related field; MBA or advanced degree strongly preferred.
  • 10+ years of progressive leadership experience in logistics, operations, or multi-site business management, with a proven record of driving profitability and growth.
  • Demonstrated executive-level P&L ownership with strategic accountability for multiple locations or regions.
  • Expertise in operational optimization, strategic planning, and organizational development.
  • Proven ability to lead large, cross-functional teams and develop leaders through succession planning and coaching.
  • Strong background in financial management, budgeting, and forecasting, including experience managing capital and operating expenditures.
  • Experience overseeing complex logistics environments, including commercial warehousing, transportation, FF&E, and O/I project management.
  • Excellent strategic communication, negotiation, and stakeholder engagement skills across all organizational levels.
  • Ability to influence and collaborate effectively with corporate leadership, shared services, and field operations.
