Job Summary:

The VP of HR, Employee Relations, leads all aspects of employee relations, ensuring a fair, compliant, and supportive environment that aligns with the organization's mission of exceptional patient care. This role is pivotal in shaping culture, mitigating risk, and strategically managing workforce dynamics within a complex healthcare system, handling sensitive issues related to employees, policy enforcement, and performance and disciplinary management.

  • Employee Relations Strategy: Develop and implement proactive employee relations strategies, fostering positive relationships, engagement, and resolving workplace issues. Lead the creation of long-term employee relations strategies that align with business goals and organizational values.
  • Compliance & Risk Management: Ensure strict adherence to federal/state labor laws (FLSA, FMLA, ADA, EEO) and healthcare-specific regulations.
  • Leadership & Culture: Partner with C-suite and leaders to build a diverse, inclusive, high-engagement culture, guiding leaders on sensitive employee matters. Serve as trusted advisor to all leaders.
  • Policy & Procedure: Design, update, and enforce HR policies, procedures, and the employee handbook, ensuring fairness and legal soundness. Develop, interpret, and enforce workplace policies and procedures to ensure consistency and fairness across the enterprise.
  • Conflict Resolution & Investigations: Oversee the most sensitive and complex internal investigations (e.g., harassment, discrimination, ethics) and resolve high-level workplace disputes.
  • Performance & Development: Oversee performance management, disciplinary processes, investigations, terminations, and employee development programs.
  • Talent Management: Collaborate on workforce planning, recruitment, retention, and organizational development initiatives.
  • Other duties as assigned

Job Requirements

Qualifications/Education/Training:

  • Education: Bachelor's degree (Master's or JD preferred) in HR, Business, or related field.
  • Experience: 10+ years in HR, with significant leadership experience in employee relations, preferably within a large healthcare system.
  • Skills: Expert knowledge of employment law, strategic thinking, excellent communication, conflict resolution, and change management.
  • Soft Skills: Exceptional emotional intelligence, mediation/negotiation skills, and the ability to handle highly confidential information with absolute discretion.
  • Certifications: (Preferred): SHRM-SCP, SPHR, or similar.
