Vice President of Orthodontic Operations

MB2 Dental, a first-of-its-kind Dental Partnership Organization (DPO) founded in 2007 and based in Carrollton, TX, is actively hiring a Vice President of Orthodontic Operations! This newly created senior leadership role - established in response to MB2’s continued organizational growth and the rapid expansion of our orthodontic platform (and not as a replacement) - will oversee the strategic direction, operational performance, and continued growth of MB2’s orthodontic portfolio across a multi-state platform.

Responsibilities

Strategic & Operational Leadership

  • Own full P&L accountability and operational performance for the orthodontic portfolio, ensuring achievement of key KPIs including starts, conversions, observation management, production, collections, and margin.
  • Develop and implement a scalable, standardized orthodontic operating model across practices while preserving local nuance and doctor autonomy.
  • Identify, prioritize, and execute practice-level and regional initiatives to drive revenue growth, operational efficiency, and patient experience.
  • Partner with senior leadership to define and evolve the long-term structure for orthodontics and related specialties, with the potential to expand oversight into additional specialty service lines (e.g., pediatric dentistry and other specialty programs).

Team Leadership & Organizational Development

  • Lead and develop a multi-state team of regional and divisional orthodontic operators and support leaders (Sr. Directors of Operations, Directors of Operations, and Regional Managers).
  • Provide direct leadership, coaching, and performance accountability to key team members, elevating expectations while maintaining a healthy, high-performance culture.
  • Design and continuously refine the organizational structure to support growth, including strategic hiring, internal talent development, and redeployment decisions.
  • Establish clear operating rhythms, communication standards, and accountability frameworks across a distributed field organization.

Doctor & Clinical Partner Engagement

  • Build and maintain strong, trust-based relationships with orthodontists and clinical partners, aligning on strategic priorities, growth initiatives, and operational goals.
  • Ensure doctors are informed on performance metrics and supported in achieving clinical excellence and financial outcomes.
  • Facilitate and lead recurring performance reviews and strategic planning sessions with doctors and operators to drive execution and follow-through.

Performance Management & KPI Excellence

  • Establish, monitor, and continuously refine core KPIs to ensure visibility, alignment, and accountability across practices and regions.
  • Diagnose performance gaps, identify operational levers, and implement targeted interventions to improve outcomes at both practice and regional levels.
  • Translate data and reporting insights into clear, actionable plans and communicate results effectively to stakeholders.

Cross-Functional Leadership & Specialty Expansion

  • Collaborate closely with general dentistry operations and traveling specialty teams to ensure alignment, clear handoffs, and effective support structures.
  • Define and optimize the integration model for traveling specialty providers across practices.
  • Contribute to long-term growth planning, including expansion into new markets and thoughtful integration of additional specialty services.
Qualifications

Required

  • 5–10+ years of progressive leadership experience in orthodontic operations within a DSO, group practice, or large multi-site healthcare organization, including direct oversight of multi-state teams.
  • Demonstrated success owning P&L performance, driving KPIs, building operating rhythms, and translating data into actionable growth and efficiency initiatives.
  • Proven ability to partner effectively with orthodontists and clinical providers in high-autonomy environments while leading change across distributed, field-based teams.
  • Strong people leadership, coaching, and organizational development capabilities, with the ability to elevate performance while maintaining a healthy culture.
  • Solid business acumen with a clear understanding of revenue drivers, cost structures, and operational levers in multi-site healthcare settings.

Preferred

  • Experience across both orthodontic and general dental operations, particularly within integrated care models.
  • Leadership experience in large or mid-sized, multi-state DSOs with decentralized, partnership-based cultures.
  • Exposure to traveling specialty models, center-of-excellence structures, and modern practice management/reporting systems.
