Role Summary

The Vice President, Procurement is responsible for developing and executing the company’s overall procurement and inventory management plan. This includes interpreting and executing the Product Line Management (PLM) strategies in a way that optimizes spend, inventory turns, and margin dollars. This role is responsible for developing, managing and maintaining the regional inventory profiles. This individual will be in control of inventory planning and procurement processes. This involves procurement, return merchandise authorization (RMA), allocations, and the purchasing administration departments. The Vice President, Procurement will lead Inventory management, strategic planning, supplier relationship management, and cross-functional collaboration to ensure efficient and cost-effective procurement operations.

Key Responsibilities

Procurement & Inventory

  • Lead procurement strategy to ensure product availability at competitive prices.
  • Execute the Product Line Management (PLM) plans across all products to optimize inventory turns, drive to and maintain competitive inventory profiles and lead the procurement and inventory planning teams
  • Improve procurement processes for efficiency and cost savings.
  • Manage purchasing operations, contracts, and vendor compliance.
  • Develop and execute comprehensive procurement strategies to meet the demands of the business unit.
  • Work with Product Line Management (PLM) to determine optimum import and domestic partner mix.
  • Oversee inbound inventory, transfers, and product data accuracy.

Product Allocations

  • Manage inventory allocations to support product strategy.
  • Collaborate across teams to resolve allocation issues and reduce waste.

Returns (RMA)

  • Oversee returns and exchanges for timely resolution.
  • Partner with finance, sales, operations, and vendors to resolve RMA issues.

Supplier Management

  • Build strong supplier relationships and negotiate favorable terms.
  • Monitor supplier performance and ensure compliance.

Data & Reporting

  • Analyze performance metrics and generate actionable insights.
  • Present reports with KPIs and improvement recommendations.

Performance & Process Improvement

  • Track department effectiveness and drive system enhancements
  • Lead cost-saving initiatives and process improvements.

Cross-Team Collaboration

  • Work closely with sales, operations, finance, PLM, and marketing.
  • Align procurement strategies with business goals and improve product flow.

Work Experience

Qualifications & Skills:

Essential

  • Typically requires a minimum of 8-10 years of related experience in procurement, supply chain, or inventory management, with at least 3-5 years in a managerial or leadership role
  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Finance, or a related field required
  • Strong understanding of procurement best practices, inventory control systems, and supply chain management principles
  • Exceptional leadership, communication, and negotiation skills
  • Proficiency in utilizing procurement software, ERP systems, and data analytics tools
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a cross-functional team environment
  • Strategic thinker with a customer-centric approach
  • Detail-oriented with a focus on continuous improvement
  • Adaptable and able to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment

Preferred

  • Advanced degree (MBA or equivalent) preferred
  • Experience in the redistribution or distribution industry

Work Environment

  • The role is primarily office-based with standard working hours. The office features modern amenities, collaborative workspaces, and technology to support remote work and virtual meetings
  • The role requires occasional travel to meet with customers, suppliers, and attend industry events. Travel may include domestic and international destinations, depending on business needs
