The Need
We’re looking for a creative, talented up and coming Video Producer & Editor to join our global story team.
You’ll bring strong technical skills and a passion for storytelling to film, edit, and produce compelling videos that move people to action. This role is ideal for someone who’s eager to grow in both production and post-production and help shape powerful visual stories that advance justice around the world.

You’ll collaborate closely with our creative and story teams to deliver content that’s emotionally resonant, beautifully crafted, and aligned with IJM’s mission.

This position is hybrid (onsite Tuesdays & Thursdays)
located in the Washington, DC area. It reports to the Director of Social and Media Relations and is only available for candidates with the right to work in the US.

Responsibilities

Video Editing and Post-Production
  • Film and edit a variety of content formats including social videos, donor stories, brand films, and internal pieces.
  • Apply transitions, sound design, voiceover, and music for storytelling flow and emotional impact.
  • Manage shoots from pre-production through postproduction, ensuring high production value and timely delivery.
  • Export and format files for various distribution channels (web, social, broadcast).
Footage Management and Workflow
  • Pull and manage raw footage from the DAML (Digital Asset Management Library).
  • Ensure secure online and offline storage of video assets to maintain reliable and organized backups for all video projects.
  • Implement best practices for version control, naming conventions, and storage.
  • Flag footage or assets needing additional capture or licensing.
Color Grading & Visual Enhancements
  • Perform color correction and audio mixing.
  • Apply LUTs and templates to maintain consistency across projects.
  • Adjust lighting, tone, and contrast for enhanced viewing experience.
  • Stay up to date with current grading tools and trends.
Motion Graphics & Animation
  • Create simple animated sequences or on brand text treatments to enhance storytelling.
  • Support integration of branded visual elements like lower thirds, logo animations, or end cards.
  • Collaborate with designers or animators on more complex needs as applicable.
Cross-Team Collaboration
  • Attend creative briefings and provide input on visual execution.
  • Partner with producers and writers to align edits with strategic messaging.
  • Adapt quickly to feedback from stakeholders and revise accordingly.
  • Maintain positive and productive communication with cross-functional teams.
  • Work alongside the Creative Team's Senior Video Producer to support video needs across IJM.

Qualifications:

Education & Experience
  • Minimum 3+ years of professional video editing experience
  • Proven portfolio of high-quality edited work, including social and branded content
  • Experience working within nonprofit, documentary, or cause-driven storytelling preferred
Technical Competencies
  • Advanced proficiency in Adobe Premiere Pro or Final Cut Pro
  • Working knowledge of After Effects or other animation software is a plus
  • Experience with color grading tools (e.g., Lumetri, DaVinci Resolve a plus)
  • Familiarity with media management systems like DAML, and cloud backup tools like Backblaze
  • Strong understanding of storytelling, pacing, and visual rhythm
Non-Technical Competencies
  • Mature orthodox Christian faith as defined by the Apostles’ Creed;
  • Strong ethic of service and a passion for IJM.
  • Collaborative and service-oriented mindset.
  • Highly organized, with excellent attention to detail
  • Strong communicator and collaborator across departments
  • Self-starter who can manage time and projects independently
  • Passionate about telling stories that make a meaningful impact

  • What is a statement of faith?
