We are looking for a high-level Video Producer to become a cornerstone of our production department. You are the bridge between a raw creative concept and a polished, high-performance final deliverable.
This is not just a technician role. You will own the project lifecycle: from drafting scripts and building shot lists to managing external contractors and overseeing the final edit. You should be as comfortable managing a $50k production budget as you are operating a DSLR or RED on a run-and-gun shoot.
Key Responsibilities
1. Creative & Technical Cinema Production
- Act as the lead "boots on the ground" during field shoots, ensuring the creative vision is executed and the shot list is completed.
- Cinema Camera Expert: Lead technical setups for RED and high-end cinema platforms (Arri, Sony Venice/FX9), including knowledge of PL-mount glass, wireless follow-focus systems, and video transmission (Teradek).
- Lighting & Grip Oversight: Direct or personally execute sophisticated lighting setups. You must have a strong grasp of 3-point lighting, color temperature (CRI/TLCI), and the use of modifiers to shape light in challenging automotive environments (garages, tracks, and mid-day sun).
- Scriptwriting and storyboarding for commercial spots, social campaigns, and technical product launches.
2. Production Management & Logistics
- Manage project budgets, ensuring all productions maintain agency margins.
- Crew Leadership: Source, vet, and manage third-party contractors—specifically acting as a technical lead for Gaffers, Audio Engineers, Colorists, and Grip & Electric (G&E) teams.
- Handle all logistical pre-production: location scouting, permitting (e.g., San Bernardino County Film Office), and specialized equipment rentals.
- Develop and maintain repeatable production systems (Call sheets, Shot lists, and Asset Management).
3. Post-Production, Editing & Motion Graphics
- Lead the edit on flagship projects, maintaining a high standard for pacing, sound design, and color grading (specifically working with R3D raw files and Log workflows).
- Motion Graphics & Visual FX: Design and execute high-end motion graphics, kinetic typography, and 2D elements to enhance technical automotive storytelling.
- Manage the internal post-production workflow, including server organization and archival of high-resolution raw assets.
Required Qualifications
- Experience: 5–8 years in a creative agency or high-end production house, with a proven portfolio in the automotive or performance lifestyle sectors.
- Technical Mastery: Expert proficiency in Adobe Creative Cloud—specifically Premiere Pro and After Effects for advanced motion graphics.
- Production Knowledge: Advanced understanding of G&E (Grip and Electric) terminology and safety, power distribution on set, and rigging for vehicle-to-vehicle (V2V) cinematography.
- Business Acumen: Ability to read an SOW, manage a P&L for a production, and negotiate with vendors.
- Driver’s License: Valid CA license (you will be on-site at various Southern California locations).
Preferred Skills
- Experience with Part 107 UAS (Drone) operations and associated insurance/permitting requirements.
- A passion for automotive culture (air-cooled, off-road, or performance aftermarket).
- Experience using Project Management tools to track multi-phase campaigns.
