The State Attorney’s Office for the Ninth Judicial Circuit of Florida seeks to promote public safety by using data-driven methods to hold offenders accountable, provide restorative justice for victims, and redirect children and people in need of services, in an effort to build stronger, safer communities. We are seeking candidates who will be responsible for the prosecution of all crimes committed in Orange and Osceola Counties. These candidates should act with integrity and balanced judgment to increase public safety, be available to assist community efforts addressing problems that lead to, or result from, criminal activity and should act not merely as a case-processor but also a problem-solver, responsible for considering broad goals of the criminal legal system.

Overview:
This is a trial-intensive position, as many of the offenders have extensive violent histories, with many having firearms mandatory minimum sentences and enhancements. VCU ASAs are assigned to two divisions, so great time management skills are essential. Applicants should have extensive felony level trial experience and must be current on their intake responsibilities.
The typical caseload would include attempted murders, kidnappings, home invasion robberies, carjackings, and armed robberies with a firearm. Those with significant criminal law experience are invited to apply for this specialty position.
Requirements:
Must possess a minimum of 5 years of experience in criminal law, either as a prosecutor or defense attorney.
Prior jury trial experience is required.
Proficient computer skills are essential, including working knowledge of Microsoft Outlook, Excel, and Word. The ability to adapt and learn new software and technologies commonly used in this position is crucial.
