Virtual Dean of Instruction

Position Title: Full-time Dean of Instruction – VCA Virtual

Reports To: Virtual Director & Principal, Victory Christian Academy

Position Overview

The Dean of Instruction – VCA Virtual provides academic leadership and instructional oversight

for the VCA Virtual program. This position exists to ensure that virtual instruction is

pedagogically sound, academically rigorous, properly evaluated, and aligned with the mission

and policies of Victory Christian Academy.

The Dean of Instruction serves under the direction of the VCA Virtual Director & Principal and

operates in accordance with the governance authority of the VCA Board.

The Dean of Instruction is not responsible for in-person campus instruction and does not replace

classroom teachers or parental instructional responsibilities within the virtual model.

Mission Alignment

The Dean of Instruction:

  • Affirms the mission, vision, and statement of faith of Victory Christian Academy.
  • Has reviewed and agrees to operate within all VCA handbooks, policies, and procedures.
  • Supports the spiritual, academic, and institutional goals established by the VCA Board.
  • Demonstrates Christian character and leadership consistent with the values of VCA.

All instructional leadership must reflect both academic excellence and the love of Christ in

service to students and families.

Primary Responsibilities

1. Academic Oversight – Virtual Program

  • Provide instructional leadership specific to VCA Virtual.
  • Ensure academic expectations are clear, measurable, and defensible.
  • Monitor academic integrity across all virtual instructional platforms.
  • Maintain coherence between curriculum pathways used within the virtual model.

2. Academic Evaluation & Diagnostic Leadership

  • Conduct high-level academic reviews for all virtual students.
  • Interpret assessment data to identify academic strengths and weaknesses.
  • Recommend appropriate instructional adjustments or interventions.
  • Oversee implementation of baseline and progress monitoring tools.

3. Instructional Strategy & Implementation

  • Develop structured academic strategies appropriate to virtual delivery.
  • Provide guidance to families regarding instructional structure, pacing, and expectations.
  • Ensure instructional plans align with VCA standards and state compliance requirements.

4. Targeted Individual Instruction

  • Provide targeted individual instruction when judgment indicates realignment is necessary.
  • Focus on foundational skill development and learning strategy.
  • Avoid assuming ongoing tutoring functions unless explicitly directed.

5. Collaboration & Institutional Support

  • Work collaboratively with:
  • VCA Principal
  • VCA Virtual Director
  • Virtual Administrator
  • Faith Coach
  • Academic Coach
  • Special needs and Title services staff
  • Virtual partners (Great Hearts, WVS, etc…)
  • Provide academic insight to support compliance documentation and accountability systems.
  • Assist in preparing documentation sufficient for audit or review.

6. Compliance & Professional Accountability

  • Ensure all practices are academically defensible and compliant with state regulations.
  • Maintain appropriate documentation of evaluations and instructional interventions.

Qualifications

  • Valid bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution (required)
  • Degree in Education, Curriculum & Instruction, Educational Leadership (preferred)
  • Experience in instructional coaching, academic leadership, or program oversight
  • Demonstrated understanding of virtual or blended learning environments
  • Strong diagnostic and analytical skills
  • Commitment to Christian education
  • Successful completion of a background check and fingerprint clearance

Governance Statement

This position operates under the authority of the VCA Virtual Director & Principal and

ultimately under the governance direction of the VCA Board. The Dean of Instruction shall not

act independently of established school policy or board-approved direction.

Compensation

The Dean of Instruction – VCA Virtual position carries a starting annual salary of $70,000.

Future salary increases may be considered based upon:

1. Demonstrated Performance

  • Measurable student academic growth
  • Quality and consistency of instructional oversight
  • Effective implementation of evaluation and progress monitoring systems
  • Contribution to academic integrity and program stability

2. Enrollment Growth & Student Load

  • Total number of Virtual students served
  • Scope and complexity of academic oversight required
  • Expansion of responsibilities directly tied to increased student enrollment

All salary adjustments shall:

  • Be recommended by the Virtual Director
  • Be evaluated by the Business Manager in light of overall program financial sustainability
  • Be approved in accordance with VCA budget policies and Board procedures

Compensation increases are not automatic and remain contingent upon performance outcomes

and enrollment realities within the Virtual program.

Pay: $60,000.00 - $65,000.00 per year
