Virtual Middle School Language Arts Teacher – Flexible Hours

Skillabration is an online skill-based school for kids ages 8-18. Our website emphasizes that we are a foreign language school, but we are expanding to offer English language arts this year.

We're currently contracting for middle school language arts teachers who can work between the hours of 9:00 am to 9:00 pm Central Monday-Friday, and has flexibility on the weekends. You will be serving our homeschool community online.

Homeschool students tend to take lessons during the morning and afternoon on weekdays, so if you are a full-time teacher, this might not work with your schedule. We need teachers who can work a minimum of 15 hours a week.

We prefer teachers who have an appreciation for creativity while also using the latest teaching strategies to help learners improve their reading and writing skills. You could be teaching a small group of homeschool students during the morning hours or providing tutoring lessons to after-school students. Our homeschool families appreciate teachers who think outside the box rather than following "common core" strategies.

The ideal candidate for this position will be passionate about empowering students to read and write, and uses an engaging approach to teaching your craft. You are known for making your students feel comfortable and excited to learn.

Pay and Class Type

• $20-$30 per hour. Pay is based on teaching 2 25-minute classes or 1 45 minute class.
• We have small group classes of 2-5 learners
• 1:1 Tutoring

Peak Hours

• 9:00 am-7:00 pm CST Monday-Fridays
• We do have students on the West Coast, so if you can teach between 7:00-9:00 pm Central, you could still get learners at those times

Responsibilities

• Teach language arts lessons
• Leave notes about what happened in class in the classroom portal
• Show up at scheduled time!!
• Teach online via zoom with a small group or 1-on-1
• Availability to work 15 or more hours a week

Qualifications

• Degree in education
• A minimum of 5 years experience teaching children
• ESL experience is a plus!
• Experience teaching online, tech savvy skills with Google Drive, Zoom, etc.
• Experience with reading/writing strategies that help learners improve
• Desire, experience, and willingness to work with ages 8-18 is a plus.
