About Our Opportunity

As we continue to expand, we are seeking a commercially astute and analytically driven Head of Commercial Strategy and Bid Management to lead our commercial intelligence and bidding function. This pivotal role will ensure disciplined governance, sharpen our competitive positioning, and maximize project profitability across multiple markets.

Reporting directly to the CEO, the Head of Commercial Strategy and Bid Management will play a critical role in shaping Yellow Door Energy’s commercial strategy, ensuring best-in-class proposals, and equipping leadership with the insights needed to win high-value tenders and deliver long-term growth.

Location: This is a singular appointment. We are open to the successful candidate being based at either our Dubai headquarters or our established Johannesburg office, depending on their current location.

Qualifications & Experience

Essential

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business, Economics, Finance, or a related field.
  • 7+ years in bid management, tendering, or commercial analysis within renewable energy developers, IPPs, EPC contractors, or technical/consultancy firms.
  • Proven success in managing large-scale bids and developing competitive pricing strategies.
  • Strong understanding of the electricity industry, including PPAs, leasing, EPC, and O&M structures.
  • Experience with pricing tools, financial models, and competitive benchmarking.

Preferred

  • Master’s degree in Business, Finance, or Engineering.
  • Experience across Middle East and Africa renewable energy markets.
  • Strong analytical and financial modeling skills, with the ability to build pricing simulations and business cases.
  • Exposure to both developer/IPPs and consultancy/EPC environments.

Key Responsibilities

Bid Process & Governance

  • Oversee and monitor bid preparation across all markets, ensuring structured governance and disciplined approval processes.
  • Support commercial teams with updated financial, legal, and technical tools for efficient bid development.
  • Conduct pricing simulations to define competitive ranges and provide broader pricing support.
  • Drive rigorous win/loss reviews and embed lessons learned across the organization.

Market & Competitor Insights

  • Track regulatory changes, tender announcements, and policy shifts in core markets.
  • Analyze competitor behavior, pricing trends, and bid structures to refine YDE’s strategy.
  • Provide monthly and quarterly market intelligence reports and opportunity maps for leadership and business development teams.

Pipeline & Commercial Analytics

  • Deliver insights on pricing, margins, and sector opportunities to guide commercial focus.
  • Provide automated pipeline reporting, deal conversion metrics, and segment analyses.
  • Collaborate with Country Leaders to forecast capacity growth and commercial outcomes.

Strategic & Leadership Support

  • Equip the CEO, leadership team, and board with data-driven recommendations for commercial decision-making.
  • Support portfolio optimization, market entry/exit analysis, and joint venture evaluations.
  • Prepare high-impact reports and presentations for Steering Committees and board discussions.
