VP of Engineering & Technology

Scion Technology has been engaged to conduct a search for an experienced Interim Vice President of Engineering & Technology for our client, a nonprofit technology company out of New York! This contract to hire opportunity offers a hybrid schedule in Midtown Manhattan. Exceptional remote candidates will be considered.

POSITION OVERVIEW

Lead and shape the company's technology vision and engineering organization within a dynamic, mission-driven environment. The VP will be responsible for translating strategic business goals into innovative, scalable, and secure platform solutions that energize the marketplace and internal operations.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Strategic Leadership: Define and execute the long-term technology vision and modernize platform architecture to support scalability, performance, and reliability.
• Team & Vendor Management: Build, mentor, and scale engineering teams; oversee external vendor relationships and ensure seamless collaboration.
• Cross-Functional Partnership: Collaborate with Product, Design, Marketing, and Operations to translate strategic goals into actionable technical initiatives.
• Innovation & Security: Drive AI applications, automation, and best practices for security and compliance to enhance operational efficiency and protect assets.

QUALIFICATIONS

• 10+ years in software and technology with significant leadership experience steering multi-disciplinary teams
• Proven expertise in web platforms, cloud infrastructure, and modern architectural patterns
• Deep experience leading modernization/replatforming initiatives i.e. migrating from monolithic systems to microservices, APIs, and cloud-native infrastructures
• Strong background in e-commerce required
• Skilled at operating both strategically and tactically, translating business needs into technical solutions
• Experience in auctions or marketplace platforms a plus
• Familiarity with AI/ML applications and automation preferred
• Track record of scaling organizations during periods of growth or transformation desired

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS
