The VP of Product is accountable for defining and executing the product strategy for a multi-product B2B enterprise SaaS portfolio. The role leads the product management, product design, and product insights functions to deliver measurable customer and business outcomes. Success is defined by consistent, on-time delivery of roadmap commitments, strong product-market fit across lines, and durable revenue expansion driven by clear value, reliability, and usability.
- Strategy & Portfolio
- Define product vision, multi-year strategy, and annual portfolio roadmap across multiple products/modules.
- Translate strategy into capacity-constrained, milestone-based plans with clear “must-win” bets and exit criteria.
- Establish portfolio OKRs and product-level North Star metrics; review monthly and course-correct.
- Execution & Delivery
- Run a predictable operating cadence (quarterly planning, release trains, stage gates, launch readiness).
- Ensure every product has a validated problem statement, outcome PRD, and instrumentation plan before build.
- Drive quality by design (SLAs/SLOs, reliability targets, usability standards, accessibility) and post-launch learn/iterate loops.
- Customer & Market Insight
- Institutionalize discovery (customer interviews, JTBD mapping, usability testing, data analysis) to de-risk bets.
- Maintain competitive intelligence and pricing/packaging guardrails in partnership with Product Marketing.
- Organization & Leadership
- Build, mentor, and performance-manage a high-caliber team (PMs, Designers, Researchers/Analysts).
- Install a clear ownership model (product lines and/or journeys), decision rights, and escalation paths.
- Foster cross-functional alignment with Engineering, Sales, Customer Success, Operations, Security/Compliance, and Finance.
- Data, Governance & Compliance
- Ensure robust product analytics, experimentation, and telemetry for evidence-based decisions.
- Uphold privacy, security, and regulatory requirements applicable to enterprise software.
Requirements
- Product Leadership: 10+ years in product management, including 4+ years owning a multi-product enterprise SaaS portfolio with significant scale (e.g., thousands of seats or 7–8 figure ACVs across customers).
- Shipping Outcomes: Proven record of taking net-new products from concept to PMF and scaling mature products (measurable impact on adoption, retention, expansion, or profitability).
- Enterprise SaaS: Depth in B2B workflows, role-based access, auditability, integrations/APIs, and security/compliance expectations.
- Operating System: Built and ran a product operating cadence (OKRs, portfolio planning, stage gates, experiment design, instrumentation, beta/GA).
- People Leadership: Hired, developed, and succession-planned a 15–30+ person product/design/research org; coached managers and senior ICs.
- Cross-Functional Execution: Partnered effectively with Engineering leadership on capacity and quality; with GTM on pricing/packaging and launches; and with CS on adoption/value realization.
- Strategic Thinking: Portfolio prioritization, sequencing, and resource trade-offs under constraints.
- Product Sense & UX Judgment: Ability to define simple, valuable experiences for complex enterprise use cases.
- Analytical Rigor: Hypothesis-driven discovery, KPI design, funnel analysis, experimentation, and causal thinking.
- Execution Discipline: Roadmap ownership, risk management, dependency handling, and on-time delivery.
- Communication: Crisp narrative memos, executive/board briefings, and clear decision records.
- Leadership: Talent magnet, culture builder, accountable, and calm under pressure.
- Ecosystem & Integrations: Experience with large-scale integrations (REST/webhooks, iPaaS), data platforms, and partner marketplaces.
- AI/ML in Product: Shipped AI-assisted workflows or analytics (e.g., co-pilots, recommendations, anomaly detection) with appropriate guardrails and measurement.
- Platform Capabilities: Ownership of shared services (reporting, workflow/orchestration, permissions, design system) used across multiple products.
- Enterprise Domains: Background in CX/CCaaS, marketing tech, analytics/BI, or data platforms.
- Global Customers: Exposure to multi-region deployments, privacy regimes, and enterprise procurement cycles.
- Pricing & Packaging Acumen: Comfort partnering with PMM/Finance on monetization, bundles, and value metrics.
- Change Management: Ability to evolve org structure and processes as the portfolio and scale grow.
- Stakeholder Management: Effective with strategic customers and partners; gathers referenceable outcomes.
- Design Operations: Familiarity with design systems, accessibility standards, and research operations.
