VRF/VRV AC Technician – Job Description
Job Summary
A VRF/VRV AC Technician is responsible for the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of Variable Refrigerant Flow (VRF) / Variable Refrigerant Volume (VRV) air conditioning systems in residential, commercial, and industrial buildings.
Key Responsibilities
- Install VRF/VRV air conditioning systems according to manufacturer specifications and project drawings.
- Perform preventive maintenance and servicing of indoor and outdoor units.
- Diagnose and repair electrical, mechanical, and refrigerant-related faults.
- Conduct refrigerant charging, vacuuming, pressure testing, and leak detection.
- Read and interpret wiring diagrams, schematics, and technical manuals.
- Troubleshoot communication errors and control system faults.
- Ensure proper functioning of compressors, expansion valves, sensors, and controllers.
- Test system performance and verify cooling efficiency.
- Maintain tools, equipment, and safety standards at work sites.
- Prepare service reports and maintenance records.
- Coordinate with supervisors, engineers, and clients during installation and maintenance activities.
- Follow company safety procedures and HVAC industry standards.
Required Skills
- Strong knowledge of VRF/VRV systems such as:
- Daikin VRV
- Mitsubishi Electric VRF
- LG Multi V
- Samsung DVM
- Toshiba VRF
- Knowledge of refrigeration cycle and HVAC electrical systems.
- Ability to use manifold gauges, vacuum pumps, multimeters, and leak detectors.
- Troubleshooting and fault-finding skills.
- Understanding of safety procedures and PPE usage.
- Good communication and teamwork skills.
Qualifications
- Diploma/ITI/Technical certification in HVAC, Refrigeration, or Air Conditioning.
- Minimum 2–5 years of experience in VRF/VRV systems.
- Certification in HVAC or refrigerant handling is an advantage.
- Valid driving license may be preferred.
Working Conditions
- Work may involve indoor and outdoor environments.
- Ability to work at heights and in confined spaces.
- May require overtime or emergency service calls.
