Warehouse Associate / Plasma (Steel Distribution Center)

Location: Orlando Branch (Near Orlando International Airport)

Job Description:

Plasma operators set up and operate plasma cutting machines, ensuring they are calibrated correctly for the specific materials being cut. This includes adjusting machine parameters based on the thickness and type of metal.

Key Responsibilities:

Blueprint Interpretation: They must read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings to determine the cutting paths and specifications required for each job.

Quality Control: Operators are responsible for inspecting finished products to ensure they meet quality standards. They may need to make adjustments to the machine settings to correct any discrepancies.

Maintenance: Regular maintenance of the plasma cutting equipment is crucial. This includes cleaning, replacing worn parts, and performing routine inspections to prevent breakdowns and ensure optimal performance.

Safety Protocols: Adhering to safety protocols is essential in this role. Operators must follow safety guidelines to minimize risks associated with operating heavy machinery and working with high-temperature processes.

Troubleshooting: Plasma operators are often required to troubleshoot and resolve basic machinery issues to maintain production efficiency.

Documentation: Keeping accurate records of production activities, including materials used and output produced, is also part of the job.

Skills and Qualifications:

Technical Skills: Proficiency in operating CNC plasma cutting machines and understanding of various metal types and their properties is essential.

Attention to Detail: Strong attention to detail is necessary to ensure precision in cutting and adherence to specifications.

Physical Stamina: The role often requires standing for long periods and the ability to lift materials, so physical stamina is important.

Education: A high school diploma or equivalent is typically required, along with vocational training or experience in metal fabrication.
