The Warehouse Manager oversees the branch warehouse operational functions related to shipping, delivery, receiving, inventory control, product transfer, merchandising, and merchandise will call. This role is responsible for the safe, efficient, and accurate movement of product at all times.
Job Duties & Responsibilities
Maintains warehouse organization, cleanliness, and accurate product placement according to system records.
Ensures all shelving and product locations are correctly labeled and consistently maintained.
Conducts timely monthly facility inspections and performs basic building maintenance as directed.
Monitors vehicle routing and delivery performance using tracking technology.
Communicates facility or operational issues to management and corporate personnel.
Participates in branch walkthroughs with corporate staff as required.
Supervises branch staff, ensuring proper coverage, performance, and adherence to schedules.
Leads performance management activities including coaching, reviews, and disciplinary actions in partnership with HR.
Fosters a positive, communicative work environment through consistent leadership.
Ensures timecard accuracy and manages scheduling adjustments as needed.
Trains warehouse staff on proper equipment use and product handling procedures.
Coordinates with management to maintain adequate staffing levels.
Serves as the branch’s lead safety advocate, ensuring full compliance with safety protocols.
Reviews inspection forms, identifies issues, and recommends safety-related operational improvements.
Immediately addresses and corrects unsafe conditions in the warehouse.
Reports all accidents, injuries, and incidents promptly, assisting in accurate safety data collection and reporting.
Ensures efficient and accurate handling of all incoming freight.
Verifies compliance with standard operating procedures for Bills of Lading, damage notations, and freight counts.
Follows company protocols for communicating exceptions on Bills of Lading, including damages and shortages.
Monitors all inbound trucks, drivers, and purchase orders through the receiving log.
Schedules drivers, trucks, and deliveries to maximize efficiency and minimize cost; coordinates with the assigned manager on any issues that arise.
Utilizes third-party carriers to outsource deliveries when necessary to meet service requirements.
Communicates promptly with the manager regarding delivery-related concerns, including customer complaints, jobsite safety incidents, employee feedback, and any driver accidents, citations, or violations.
Ensures adherence to company procedures for driver logs, product returns and credits, and monitoring of driver punctuality.
Verifies completion of daily vehicle inspection reports to maintain fleet safety and compliance.
Ensures all product transfers are executed accurately and efficiently in accordance with company standards.
Oversees compliance with procedures related to pulling, checking, loading, and receiving transferred merchandise.
Confirms that all outbound transfers are pulled on the same day they are entered into the system and that inbound transfers are received and processed in the system on the day of arrival at the branch.
Ensures all vehicles and material handling equipment are regularly maintained and remain in safe, operable condition.
Promptly reports any damage, performance issues, or safety concerns to the appropriate manager or corporate personnel.
Conducts daily inspections of lift equipment and delivery vehicles.
Ensures accurate and timely updates to the receiving log and freight processing.
Maintains proper charging and secure storage of material handling equipment.
Confirms trucks are loaded, fueled, and secured for next-day use.
Oversees end-of-day storage of all equipment in designated areas.
Designated as a safety-sensitive position, requiring consistent alertness and adherence to safety protocols.
Maintains proficiency in company systems for tasks such as data entry, messaging, documentation, and queue updates.
Performs additional duties and responsibilities as assigned to support evolving organizational needs.
Qualifications
High School diploma or GED required.
5+ years of experience in warehousing, supply chain, or related operations.
Minimum 3 years in a supervisory or team leadership role within a distribution environment.
Familiarity with quality systems (ISO preferred), LEAN, and Six Sigma methodologies.
Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and standard office technology.
Physical Demands & Work Environment
This role requires 40–50 hours per week and regular physical activity, including:
Frequent lifting (25–50 lbs); occasional lifting up to 100 lbs.
Operating forklifts and material handling equipment up to 6 hours daily.
Regular bending, climbing, squatting, kneeling, and reaching.
Occasional pushing/pulling up to 300 lbs.
Prolonged use of hands, arms, and feet for equipment operation.
Continuous sitting, standing, walking, and twisting.
