Waxer Operator -1st/2nd Shift

POSITION SUMMARY:

Responsible for set-up and operation of waxing machine.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Responsible for waxing machine operation according to prepared schedule.
  • Must maintain accurate job report and sheet count and change type of wax (summer or winter) as instructed by supervisor.
  • Must prepare feeder, waxer, and automatic stacker to required sheet size and adjusts heat, air pressure, and spray controls for specified wax application.
  • Runs trial sheets before starting operation and spot checks sheets for proper wax application, at all times, with no heavy "spot" deposits or skips.
  • Operator must be constantly alert during run, to prevent damage to decoration or sheets. Must pull three (3) sheets per load for inspections per instructions.
  • Responsible for placing completed loads from stacker onto conveyor, straps for trucker, and inserting correct load ticket.
  • Responsible for checking waxer (spray nozzles, etc.) for fouling conditions (spitting, etc.) and maintains clean feed chains and sprockets.
  • Responsible for cleaning as required during run.
  • Responsible for proper cleaning of wax unit when required to assure proper operation and prevent hazardous wax build-up which could cause fire, etc.
  • Occasionally performs miscellaneous department tasks other than primary functions, when need exists, as determined by supervisor.
  • Keeps work area safe, orderly and free of obstruction.
  • Position requires pushing, pulling or lifting heavy objects ranging up to approximately 60 lbs.
  • Have proper hand tools for minor repairs/setup.
  • Must run waxers up to standard operating rates and produce quality product.
  • Operators may be responsible for running two waxing lines simultaneously.

EDUCATION, TRAINING & EXPERIENCE:

Position requires one of the following:

  • A minimum of one (1) year high school
  • GED equivalency
  • Three (3) months experience is necessary to develop skills and knowledge to perform proficiently.

SPECIAL EQUIPMENT OR OTHER REQUIREMENTS:

  • Uses wax machine with automatic feeder and sheet stacker, strapping equipment, and miscellaneous small hand tools.
  • Use of powered lift truck. Must pass J.L. Clark training.
  • Scheduled overtime is required.

  • Litho, shear, quality and planning.
