Position Overview

We are seeking a creative and technically capable Web / UX Designer & Developer—someone who can both design and build functional, production-ready websites. This role requires hands-on experience developing sites, implementing features, and extending functionality, primarily within WordPress.

This is a part-time, project-based position with the potential to grow into a full-time, in-house role. The ideal candidate is a detail-oriented self-starter who enjoys solving problems through design and technology and can balance creativity with technical execution.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• Collaborating and planning through official channels (Wrike, Slack, Google Drive, Google Workspace, Airtable, GatherContent, Monday.com, and others)
• Working with the Project Manager to schedule and prioritize creative and technical tasks
• Collaborating with clients to gather requirements, manage expectations, and provide progress updates
• Designing and developing websites from concept through launch, including UX, layout, and structure
• Installing, configuring, and customizing WordPress themes, plugins, and web applications (eCommerce, event calendars, directories, etc.)
• Building, extending, and maintaining site functionality, including custom features and integrations
• Optimizing, debugging, and maintaining front-end code (HTML, CSS, and related technologies)
• Ensuring responsive behavior across desktop, tablet, and mobile devices
• Performing speed, performance, and usability testing and optimization
• Applying SEO best practices during design and development
• Presenting design and functional solutions to clients and incorporating feedback
• Collaborating with designers, developers, copywriters, and project managers
• Ensuring all work aligns with agency standards for branding, accessibility, performance, and security

Skills & Experience

• Minimum of 2 years experience in Web / UX Design
• Experience developing with WordPress
• Strong understanding of HTML, CSS, and front-end best practices
• Experience with Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator)
• Strong time management and organizational skills

Bonus Skills & Experience

(Not required, but a strong plus and willingness to learn is essential)

• WordPress theme development and customization
• Understanding of WordPress databases and dynamic content
• Accessibility best practices (ADA compliance)
• Data privacy and security fundamentals (GDPR)
• Website speed and performance optimization
• On-site SEO and structured data (schema markup)
• SFTP and file management
• Content marketing and branding principles
• Project management and leadership skills

Job Types: Part-time, Contract, Internship

Pay: $22.00 - $35.00 per hour

Expected hours: 20 – 30 per week
