Brief Description

Job Summary

Under general direction and in compliance with standard operating procedures and policies, administers the City’s external digital marketing tools, to include the web platform, e-communication, surveys, online forms, online website quality control, etc. Creates dynamic, interactive web content and ensures City websites and affiliated digital accounts are updated regularly with relevant and exciting material. Uses photos, videos, graphics, news articles, accolades, and interviews to post to all Greenvillesc.gov-related websites. Provides support and mentorship to City colleagues working on website content development. Researches best practices, competitor content and market trends.

  • Serve as Primary Administrator on City Websites: Serve as primary contact with third-party website hosting provider. Ensure maximum performance on all City websites by implementing fixes on reported issues or submit support tickets to third-party provider and ensure responsiveness. Use knowledge of Hyper Text Markup Language (HTML), Cascading Style Sheets (CSS) and other front-end website coding languages and techniques to maintain Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) accessibility, responsiveness, and readability. Utilize Google Analytics and resources within Civic Plus platform to create analytic reports about digital media reach. Make recommendations based on reports and modify strategies and resources as necessary. Ensure effective Search Engine Optimization (SEO) to reach audiences. Stay abreast of web trends, explore new platforms, and seek opportunities for improvement and expansion.

  • Develop Digital Content: Develop and manage dynamic, interactive web and related digital content both independently and in collaboration with Multimedia Specialists and Project Managers to grow web traffic. Use photos, videos, graphics, news articles, accolades, and interviews to post to all Greenvillesc.gov-related websites. Create, audit, and update project pages related to engineering, development, and other ongoing City initiatives to help support services and events for the City. Remove outdated content as needed. Support Social Media Specialist and serve in a backup role as needed.

  • Website Technical Liaison: Research best practices, competitor content and market trends. Communicate regularly and support City colleagues in all departments to troubleshoot, mentor and teach best practices and methods in website content maintenance. Assist colleagues with the creation of new user interfaces, make recommendations based upon technical expertise and ensure goals are met by implementing changes.

Qualifications

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, web development, digital media or a related field.

  • Minimum of two (2) years of professional experience in developing integrated digital media communications strategies and content for websites.



Preferred Qualifications

  • Documented experience in web design, and social media.

  • Documented experience working with headless Content Management Systems (CMS).



Driver's License Requirements

  • Valid South Carolina Class D Driver's License.

  • Content Management Systems (CMS) for web platforms.

  • HTML5, CSS, and related front-end web coding.

  • Best practices in public engagement through digital mediums.

  • Search engine optimization, web trends, and web analytic tools (Google Analytics).

  • Successfully complete time-sensitive and/or high-profile projects through collaboration, consensus, and creativity.

  • Read papers, periodicals, journals, manuals, and policies.

  • Make mathematical calculations and draw logical conclusions; work with fractions, percentages, ratios/proportions and measurements.

  • Write reports, prepare business letters, summarize meeting minutes, and compose emails in a clear and professional manner.

  • Operate general office equipment to include scanner, printer, copier, telephone, and computer with Microsoft Office Suite and Microsoft Teams.

  • Utilize specialized software and systems to include web CMS, Adobe Suite (InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator), and web-based analytics (e.g., Google analytics).

Primary Work Location: Office environment and occasional outside work.

Physical Demands:

Constantly requires vision, hearing, talking, and fine dexterity. Frequently requires sitting and standing. Occasionally requires pushing/pulling, reaching, handling/grasping, walking, and carrying. Light strength demands include frequently exerting up to 10 pounds, occasionally exerting up to 10-20 pounds, and rarely exerting 20-50 pounds.

Mental Demands:
